I lived in Colorado for a couple of years. Palisades is like the center of growing fruits and vegetables in Colorado. As I recall they were especially well known for their peaches and melons.

That drive on I70 sucks until you hit the mountains. Then you say, Look at those Mountains! Glenwood Springs is one of my favorite spots. Colorado is a beautiful state. So many ooooh and awes!

I want to travel out west, but Covid put a little delay on that the past 2 years and before that medical issues. After my knee replacement in 2018 I started thinking of my route and what I wanted to see/visit. I bought a Rand McNally atlas just before the start of the pandemic. I want to go this summer, but that depends on the 3 surgeries I'm facing starting next week. I've always traveled I80, but thinking of going out I70 cause I want to go to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Reno and head back to Illinois on I80. Go up to Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, Black hills, Mount Rushmore and take in the scenery between all those places. Love the west.

The first time I went into Denver on Rt. 70, I was coming up on an overpass and saw the nose of a commercial airliner rotate up. The old Stapleton airport had runways that crossed the highway. It was in 1987.

I grew up in Denver and miss Stapleton Airport. Loved it when a plane would cross as we were going through the bridge/ tunnel. One of the prettiest backdrops for a major city.

That stop was Cameo. And you are right. Eisenhower tunnel is right through the continental divide, so the weather can be totally different on either side. Palisade has the best peaches in the country. Yes even better then Georgia peaches. They are famous for them and their wineries.

I 70, I 80 I like to do permanent passing if no traffic. I stay in left lane until traffic starts to overtake. Then I move to right lane. Yep a true criminal. Right lane is often much smoother. I see anyone catching up I move. So far no tickets. But I watch far ahead, and behind. I was looking for you but I was week after the storm. Perfect driving conditions. I think I saw one of Tow Piglets rigs going West by Kearney.

In your las video you were talking about the Kansas tolls and said Colorado does great with I 70 lol. I live in Denver and was thinking what is he talking about that road is terrible. Literally when you cross the border it’s like driving on a washboard. Colorado highways are some of the worst in the country. I love hitting Kansas every time I leave.
