( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2014 HEMI Dodge Police Pursuit Charger is one badass looking cop car. You certainly don't want to see this police car in your rear view mirror. Last year we got to ride in the Dodge Police Pursuit Charger at Chrysler's Proving Grounds in Michigan. This year Nathan and Roman got behind the wheel of the 2014 HEMI Dodge Police Pursuit Charger and played cops and robbers. In another fun and informative TFLcar video we not only drive the new Charger Pursuit but we test it from 0-60 MPH at sea level to see if the HEMI gas what it takes to catch up with the bad guys.

I was a State Trooper for 22 years and I still don't understand the public's fascination with driving a police car and playing with the lights and siren. The thrill wears off rather quickly, believe me.

Same here I guess its probably when people move out the way and also the sound but people who never been Ina one would never know because once that light and siren goes on someone's life is on the line its no game or joke serious business

I was in Kuwait,doing 130 in my 01 Durango. A police car pulled in behind me way to easy with lights. I thought I was going to jail,but,his buddy in another police Charger went around us at an easy 160 or better. The car behind me pulled over and the race was on. They both left me like I was changing oil. With distinctive whine of a supercharger. I got some pic's. They thought I was nuts.

In the academy, 36 years ago we drove worn out '73 Satellites with 318 V8's. Beefed up suspension, transmission and brakes does make a difference. When you are a 22 year old kid I must admit it was fun to tear around in a black & white learning how to recover from 50 mph "spins". Oh, to be young again...

a lot of magazines are paid advertisements. if u subscribe to as many as i do, most reviews are warmed over press releases. they make it seem they take 3 months per car but if they even step foot in one, it is for a few min. in a prep'd car. tflc is honest. these are the numbers they are able to achieve. they tell u the numbers and stats the company gives them and then tell u how it really is. please keep up the good work!

I bought a 2014 Pursuit AWD a month ago and I absolutely love it! It’s friggin awesome in Minnesota snow, and I get consistent 7 second 0-60’s ON DIRT! And I love the stealthy exhaust. It’s quieter than my buddies Grand Caravan at idle, but man you know it’s a Hemi when you mash the throttle! Plus, enough room in the back seat for 3 car seats. IMO it’s THE muscle car for the modern era.

You're correct, since 1997 U.S. police have mainly been using Crown Victorias (RWD), and before that the Caprice and other models were RWD. I think what he was implying is out of the new generation police vehicles (Dodge Charger, Ford Interceptor, and Chevy Caprice), only the Charger is RWD.

In our rural county in Central California there are usually 2-3 city cop cars and 2-3 Sheriff's cars patrolling the graveyard shift (midnight to 9 a.m.). Even a very fast car will seldom get away once a pursuit begins because no car on Earth is faster than a "Motorola". Proper use of your Radio can always get cars in position to use spike strips or a basic Roadblock. In the last few years there is a plethora of real fast cars on our streets and highways. A couple of old "Crown Vics" can catch an 07 Corvette or Ferrari so if you see lights in your rearviews just go ahead and pull over. It will spare you a VERY expensive ticket, not to mention the Towing and Impound fees. Good old Cops and Robbers isn't so pretty in real life.

I love this Channel!!! I personally think that the v8 in this car is kinda weak though. 6 seconds to 60 in good conditions.... I mean the Germans and the Japanese can use a much smaller engine to achieve that. Dont argue that this car is heavy. I didnt even mention the Audis and Benz. Not even the GTR

Driving a marked unit can be a hoot but it can also slow you down. On a two lane road any car ahead of you will do the speed limit, or a little less, and until you get to a passing zone you're stuck. Use of the lights/siren is limited to emergencies and inappropriate use can result in department issued penalties. Thanks for the memories.

Police packages add quite a bit of weight, even more to a fairly hefty sedan like the Charger. And the old Merc 5 speed that's in that thing doesn't have the most aggressive gearing in the world, and the standard R/T, same engine and transmission is marked at around 5.5 0-60.
@zombiekiller1997
@zombiekiller1997 11 жыл бұрын
The HEMI is a muscle car engine which means its not going be the fastest off the line but once your little "v6" gets past 75 its going start losing a lot of power while the HEMI is still running hot still having 2 whole gears to go before it starts slowing down. Most pursuits end up going 80 mph so a charger will keep up and will keep running strong till it prob hits 140.

I have a 2012 police package Charger that runs 0-60 in 5.7 seconds all day. Of course, it has a custom exhaust system with JBA headers/Solo midpipes, and a Corsa catback. After the Stage II HHP heads/cam or supercharger it should run 0-60 in around 4.5 seconds. Suspension, braking, and steering is just like a Mercedes because those components are Mercedes designs (thank you Mercedes for buying/selling Chrysler).

Fact is I am driving a 2013 with all wheel drive-the 5.7 Hemi with the 8 speed auto transfer. I work for one of our Government Agencies along our SW borders where we have issues with sand so our unmarked cars have a bit wider tires. For those yakking about speed try tomout run my radio or one of our choppers-speed kills when it's not needed.

There are so many factors to consider when designing a vehicle that must be able to perform, idle at length, pit maneuver, chase, handle in the snow, mud, highway, back roads, durability, comfort, etc. 0-60 times are only a fraction of importance; there's always a faster vehicle. Try running a mustang at 70+ in the snow; The key with these tests are Best all around

Funny, the ford interceptor with the ecoboost v6 does 0-60 in 5.8. Better fuel mileage which is a savings on fuel. Several large testing locations including la say that 4 wheel drive is superior to rear wheel or front wheel and the ford is available in 4 wheel drive. Also the cockpits are designed with siren controls etc on the steering wheel and the seats and seatbelts have been redesigned to accommodate the gun, clothing etc. They widened the rear doors for perp egress, ingress etc. Customized

What a gutless pos when the new "daytonas" came out and all the mortaged to death idiots brought them out to the track my bone stock 93 trans am $2500 was beating these $40k heavy weights by good old power/weight ratio almost a full second. The true “cop” set up would be even slower than that with all the specialties like a rear seat cage, laptop and mount in the front, and all of the gear in the trunk (weapons, armor, general gear etc)- probably about the same weight as the 2 extra people currently in the car so maybe not technically slower but probably about the same.
