I used ABRP with Android Auto and Tronity with my ID.4 for a short trip (330km) but I didn't like ABRP. It sometimes crashes but the worst thing is that the estimated battery level at the end was 10% wrongly.. very big error.. I arrived with 15% instead 5% estimated by ABRP.. then the route chosen by ABRP was not the best route due to wrong traffic estimation. I used 2 times but at the end I prefer to plan the trip manually at home with the PC

Been using this with my iX, only concern is that the realtime SOC lags 1 to 2 procent ... Also you do not have preconditioning. Tronity is also less accurate with iX for consumption in trips, it uses percentage instead of real SOC ... so it can be off by more than 1% which gives a big difference, if I compare it with my trip data in the car.

I used both for 3850 mile road trip from Scotland to Norway and found it buggy. Crashing often and sometimes running up to 1/2 a mile behind. It’s great for planning on a pc but compare routes with Google as ABRP picked some awful routes. It also things you can mange the speed limit on single track roads with passing places. I cancelled the premium ABRP when I got home. TRONITY was ok but no point without ABRP

I had freezing issues with ABRP this past summer using Bluetooth on my e-Golf. Since then ABRP updated the app so I need to try again. I do like being able to see digital SoC while the e-Golf only has an analog gauge.

I had freeze too. But it had to do with the gps. You can switch from gps of your car to gps on your phone which works better. Since I switched I had no freeze

I use ABRP for all my trips and the videos on my you tube channel. It's the best option for route planning. I use ev notify rather than tronity though
@BatteryLife2 жыл бұрын
How do you do it that you can put your phone in standby with ev notify. When I do it, abrp loses the connection to EV notify.
@enyaq_gorm2 жыл бұрын
@@BatteryLife I put the phone on a cradle and then ev notify just stays there on screen - useful to see battery temperatures. If you look at any of my road trip videos on my channel you can see what I mean. I don't put the phone screen off if that's what you mean

Chris, have you noticed if the nevigation software in sw 3.0 is considering the altitude difference of the trip, like ABRP, or just consider always a "flat trip"? Cheers!

Pretty simple. Create account, connect tronity to abrp

@@BatteryLife I've been trying with my ID4 - taken out a 14 day trial of Tronity but ABRP doesn't like it, "Something went wrong...". Will try again later.
@CoxJul2 жыл бұрын
Just got an email from Tronity that may be revealing... I'll get back to that. After this video I opened a Tronity account 14 day trial and linked my ID.4 1st Ed (UK) through We Connect ID. Only getting minimal info intermittently. No odometer reading meaning no trips therefore no consumption calculations. Also for some reason I can't link to ABRP - I see the car VIN correctly from my Trinity account but when I press the 'Authorise' button I get "something went wrong, please try later". I thought at first this may be inconsistent data not yet synched through various accounts but a few days later the same thing happens. So I was thinking I'd get in touch with Tronity, but just got an email from them saying "I have just changed your access to a free account. For the ID.4, Tronity will remain free for the time being as long as we don't get more data from VW". Anyone got any idea what the underlying issue is? Is VW blocking what data they share?

is it so difficult for one of the largest car manufacturers to make a software that reaches the level of ABR?, when will they calculate a route taking into account the slopes? They don't know how to do it? It doesn't seem so difficult...we are going to reach 2023 and the route planner is still unfortunate,... if they don't improve, they should install in our cars android automotive!! I'm shure it Will do it better,...

I kindly ask for a small favor from anyone who has access to an iD.5 GTX please. If possible kindly measure for us the ground clearance somewhere in the middle, around where the two doors meet. Some website put it at 21cm whereas others say it’s closer to 16cm. Apparently the European version of this iD.5 GTX has lower ground clearance than the other iD.5 models. Our current ICE car has 19cm of clearance and just makes it over the raised pavement, when the car is halfway between the street and the garage ramp. We have an iD.5 GTX on order and had overlooked this issue. There will not be any iD.5 GTX available on our island until autumn 2023 to take this measurement from. Thanks.

I measured 20,0 cm. with a laser on my neighbor’s car..! Got very consistent readings on both sides of the car, around the middle. And it’s perfectly flat underneath. That’s of course with no weight in the car. Furthermore, the car is on 21 inch original wheels with summer tires. Not that it should make any difference. And it’s parked in the cold, like 6-7C. So, probably not particularly high tire pressure.. 🤓 EDIT: The ID.4/5 actually has a shorter wheelbase than some competitors, which might also help.

@@omelvold Thanks, for your kind help on this and please convey my thanks to your neighbour as well. I owe you both a pint or two of cold beer if you ever happen to stumble all the way down to Malta. Our car order is with the standard 20" wheels and I'm assuming that ground clearance should be still same, both for 20" and 21". Thanks again for this vital info, greatly appreciated.

In my test, half a year ago, the routing quality of ABRP was miserable. Using it within city limits was a nightmare and really, really bad. Maybe I have to test it again. Also stability was poor and the user interface is convoluted and badly designed.
@rabidpb2 жыл бұрын
I keep thinking I must have a different ABRP app to all the KZbinrs. My experience is that it is so buggy and has such a bad human interface that I couldn't possibly consider relying on it for live use on a trip. I know I should report some of the bugs and misfeatures to help to get them fixed, but the overall experience is just so bad that I don't even know where to start. Some of the oddities that I can think of: - It often insists that I should stop to charge 5 minutes into my journey, even though I will arrive at the next stop with plenty of battery; - tapping on chargers on the map wants to do things like add waypoints rather than just show me information about the charger; - I can see the nice guide to nearby facilities for chargers that are not on my route, but get no such information for the actual stops in my itinerary; - Manually added waypoints or route selections get lost if it thinks I've gone off the route and recalculates a new route; - That's made worse because it sometimes decides I've gone off the route even if I haven't; - The time calculation knows about road closures but the route planner doesn't, so it will tell me a 30 minute journey will take 3 hours (through the closed road) and insist that this is the best route with no alternatives; - In the Android Auto interface, almost no UI elements can be interacted with. I can pan/zoom the map or tap the handful of buttons in the corner, nothing else -- I can't tap a POI on the map for information or to change the route, for instance. If I am in any way unhappy with the information or route provided, my only option is to pull over and go back to the phone UI. How is this so different from other people's reported experience?
