FYI, on the Chargers. The slowest is free charging. It charges in volts. Next is 34 kW at some of the chargers then the highest I think it goes to something like 54 kW. Tesla has chargers the older ones that start at 50 kW, then they have the 75 kW. And currently the 250 kW and the newer ones are fast. I’m sure in the next five years it’ll get even faster. I believe Tesla will be the only one that could pull off the speed of filling a gas tank in the future.how long from now in the year 2024 no idea but they have cut that speed from the original car into less than half. From 2012.

@@jamestravis21 that’s good. One last thing as far as the chargers go. If you download the app for each charging company that helps in finding them. In a Tesla it’s right in navigation. It’ll take you to all the charging stations no matter what area you are in or driving. Teslas navigation also shows all the other charging stations that are not part of the Tesla network. Which I believe every manufacture selling an EV should have that in their navigation system.
@Branman3452 ай бұрын
Travel to Europe then come talk to me about the charging and all that. If you rent a Tesla over in Germany you won't have access to the app and they don't have all the cool features you have in the states. They are complete garbage over here in Europe we rather have the Mercedes and BMW's over the Tesla's we at least know they will run and we can fill up.
@theczar61712 ай бұрын
@@Branman345 that is actually true on a rental. You don’t have phone access in the app. But what you do have is the navigation system. Which tells you in screen where the charger is, how much per kilowatt is being charged to you at the time that you arrive, how many cars are headed to the charging station?. and what kilowatts the station is. There’s no need for an app.. unless you’re not a Tesla. Which again is a different story.

If there is a top 3 list of EV’s not to road trip, this one is on it. I have a Electrified G80. Soon as it’s paid for, Tesla Model S Plaid here I come!!!!!

One piece of advice……don’t charge the vehicle to 100% unless you want to stay there for a minimum of an hour and a half. Charge to 80% as this will get you the fastest rate of charge and then continue on your way. EV trips are easy but you’ve got to do some research before taking the plunge.
@tyronejones14352 ай бұрын
I commend you for trying but, there is a lot to be learned about charging. AC charging VS DC charging. And when you put a destination on the map in your car generally the map will layout different locations that you can choose from to charge. Generally tell you how many miles you will have left to get to that site. So much to learn about but once you do know you can go down the road with confidence. Happy motoring!

plugshare and a better route planner are key for road trips and they can be done once in a while when equipped with the proper information but for someone who uses a vehicle primarily for road trips i think gas cars are the better option for now

My opinion. Why Tesla is successful with their vehicles besides the vehicle simply put, it’s their supercharging network.. Rivian has some of their own. But the dominant player in this game of electric vehicles is Tesla. The super charging network makes such a huge difference in the daily use of their vehicles. Any electric vehicle that’s not a Tesla is just noise. Every car manufacturer should be building their own charging network. Because no matter how they tell you BYD is beating Tesla. One thing BYD has no charging network.

@@theczar6171 that’s valid. I was disappointed to find the chargers aren’t universal. Added a ton of stress to the trip.

@@jamestravis21 correct some stations are some stations are not. Now that you’ve had this experience. Whenever you see a charging station outside of the Tesla network. Look at how many cords are hanging from the machine. Some of the EB go stations will have five different connectors attached to the actual charging station. Some will only have one.. Which you got the experience now on the challenges of an electric vehicle. Where the Tesla network tells you how many stations are available. At the station you’re headed to tells you the price. Tells you which one’s not working. And also tells you how many cars are headed to that station to charge..

I have a ram and a tesla, trust me when i say, tesla is way different than any other EV. 2 MAJOR reasons. 1. when you map a trio on tesla. It will automatically tell you where to go to charge, how long to charge to your destination. 2. 50% that gets u 100 miles is wild, my tesla gets me REALISTICALLY with my fast driving, 250. Even tho it says 310 on a full charge. 1 minor thing as well. Tesla provides the adapter that you need to charge from all these other chargers

Petrol vehicles will always be king. Unfortunately, people who think electric cars will stick are sadly mistaken. The roads need to be equipped for them they were meant for petrol-powered vehicles, and you know that you will not break down with a petrol vehicle. I love the idea, but these vehicles are for driving around the town, not long distances. I wouldn't say I like feeling limited to where I can go, and I know if I owned one of these vehicles, I would be limited to how far I can go. No one has time for these, and it's been proven with the rentals. Even the Teslas.could be better. You would be stopping every hundred miles.
