Another great vid. Heading that way in June. After drowning my fourbie in Tas a cuppla times, I now tape the two drain holes in each door before doing deep crossings. Only takes a cuppla minutes. Did the OTT and Frenchmans in August with taped drain holes. No water in the vehicle on the OTT, and just a cupful crossing the Pascoe. Makes a big difference I reckon, specially if you're sitting there for a while, as in my experience most of the water comes in through the doors, not the door seals. Just remember to remove the tape before it rains

Awesome vid guys ,talk about on the edge. Can't help but think if the dmax had a conventional type snorkel head it may have less chance of sucking water off the windscreen. Always enjoy your guys adventures truly epic. Keep it up

Might be time to get a fwd facing 'norkel or changing the input of the rear facing. Yea you get more dust and bugs but thats what the filter is designed to stop. Obviously it doesnt stop water. Foam ear plugs in the drains in the bottom of the doors. Best thing to do for deep water crossing, especially if you may be in there longer than intended. Takes 2 mins to do all the drains and assuming you have good seals, it can keep water from entering the car for a pretty decent amount of time. Has saved me a few times from getting soggy carpets.

Hit it way too fast, water went up the windscreen and into the top of the snorkel. That snorkel intake points a very bad direction. Also you can disconnect the hose from the intercooler to the engine manifold, start the engine and use the turbo to blow water out of the intercooler.

that's why I don't go for a steel snorkel that water can get in. so I use a plastic snorkel face-front and have no issues at all! I know Steel looks better than plastic. but I rather go the safe way! nice work awesome video!

The d max was in 2wd, while crossing that water on the beach,when he slammed water up over the roof of the cab as noted by only the rear wheels spinning for a couple of seconds while the fronts sat still...Driver error caused water ingestion,or that snork and airbox isn't sealed properly..

If ever crossing high water accelerate and keep the power on, the positive pressure from the engine will keep the water from being sucked into the engine and the forward movement will create a bow wave in front of the vehicle that's what I practised in the UK. never use your brakes only neutral to slow or stop but the foot should be pushing the accelerator pedal to the floor

Always has to be one that has never even been bush like these lads and do such an EPIC crossing that's what you pick on the video. If you noticed the car is on a angle to the passengers side being lower and with the water pushing up against the Ute it would look a bit higher. Observation that you don't obviously have and these lads time and time again get out of the hectic 4wd situation! Thanks Jase and Simon for the next level videos and everyone else in the production of these awesome videos!

@BradleyWalters-yd4gx lol,I'm 59 years old,been wheeling all across America, Canada, and Alaska most of my life.. And every time I watch Jase,your hero,and them do stupid shiit,I call them out on it and post it in the comments,but there is always a fanboy,or a browniehound such as yourself naysaying anything that doesn't jibe with the channels line... That's fine, but don't ever step up to a man with maybe a million miles off road,down some very serious trails ,or non trails when you yourself are still wet behind the ears,and have not seen even 1000th of what I have seen,done,and conquered multiple times years ago there little boy. 😉 😆

Or put a proper snorkel on it. Staino snorkels are for looks, not function.
@yeahnah773
@yeahnah773 Жыл бұрын
@@LostDunny2023 can you explain why you came to that conclusion?
@LostDunny2023
@LostDunny2023 Жыл бұрын
@@yeahnah773 simple physics. They suck water (and dust) in. Having the intake facing backwards isn't enough thanks to the negative pressure within the snorkel. A proper snorkel will have a well designed snorkel head fitted that will reduce (or stop) this from occurring. We've seen video proof of this now on this very channel. Twice, with the same car. Wave went up the windscreen and straight into the snorkel thanks to the negative pressure created by the engine demanding air. A snorkel head would have stopped this water ingress. Simply, the water as it rushed up the windscreen/snorkel neck would have struck the bottom of the snorkel head and would then been redirected away from the intake.
@yeahnah773
@yeahnah773 Жыл бұрын
@@LostDunny2023 no offence to you but you know you can aim the snorkel any way you want right? You know that the structure of stainless far outweighs plastic? Also the air in the smooth large cylindrical pipe far outflows the plastic counter parts. For example I have a 4 inch stainless with a ram head on top. If I wanted less airflow to my engine I’d put the plastic one back on. Nice and skinny so the air molecules are squeezed hotter. I think there is room to open the mind there to be frank
