I first went to Vietnam in 2023 and did Hanoi, Nha Trang, HSMC and then back to Hanoi but fell in love with Hanoi. As soon as we came back home we started to plan our next trip and went back 2024 for Hanoi, Da Nang, Hoi An, Sapa and Hanoi again before going to Bangkok for a couple of days. Never ran into any problems with the communications and even if some didn't speak english they are always so polite and service minded so if you just point and gesture they will understand and so many finds such pride with their food and that you traveled there to experience it. And I fully agree with eating where the locals eat... on our first visit we used apps to find highly rated places but in 2024 we kinda just winged it and my gf is originally from Vietnam and left at young age but she speaks the language.. I'm white and were often the only white person at the restaurants but nobody looks wierd at you.. they smile and are happy that you were there to eat and one time a whole table got up to cheer me with their drinks after they saw me eating Durian and liked it. They joked that they would pay for the next plate for me (it was an all you can eat buffet that included durian....) :'D I love the country and it's people.

Joen, I’m so impressed by your dedication to sobriety. You were such an a** while drunk, mean and unpleasant. I’m so happy I’ve stuck with you two to see what a really fantastic guy you really are. I’m so proud of you. You’re an inspiration to us all.

Great video guys. I was lucky enough to do a Vietnam tour 20 years ago and it's both good to see old haunts again but also interesting to see how much it has changed in such a short time. The place will stay in your hearts forever. Looking forward to the next episode 👍

Must have been amazing to experience Vietnam right after they opened the gates. Today it's very different in both good and bad ways, but we'll get into that in our coming videos.

@@joenandamalie yeah they were basically saying at the time they it was the last couple of years of Vietnam being traditional before turning into another touristy/ Thailand kind of place. It was definitely not the same as it is today.

Welcome back! Maybe you guys are done with the trip, but next time you get sick you can visit the hospital. No need to book in advance, it costs about $20-30 (including medicine) and an hour at a 5 star hospital for the common cold. Just saying because I saw Amalie was tired in a couple shots. Anyway, if you're still continuing your trip here, enjoy the your first Tet holiday!

Thanks for sharing your video. I wonder if the Saigon metro transit rail system is in full production. It’s free for the first 30 days since December 22, 2024.

They opened the metro line literally weeks after we were there. That's a shame, but we will always prefer to scoot around the city. That's really how you feel alive! 🥰

What an amazing surprise to see u guys in VN! This is a travel series I’ll be checking out for sure 👍 Regarding prices; on my second trip back in 2010 someone tried to sell me a regular t-shirt at 150 dollars. Not 150.000 dongs but 150 bucks! 😂 And Im quite sure I dont look like a millionaire 😅 Anyway, already looking for the next episode 🤩

Great video, we're planning a trip in March and I'll use your recommendations to help us navigate the trip. What are some of the scams we need to watch for?
@joenandamalie13 күн бұрын
Amazing. Enjoy! Scams to be aware of is booking hotels on Booking.com. You can trust ratings and reviews. They have these AI-systems that create fake reviews combined with deleting your booking once you have checked into this much shittier hotel compared to the photos. They cancel your booking as you are checked in to ensure you won't leave a poor review, hence their booking.com listing remains. I tried everything I could to get in touch with Booking.com but they would not respond. We experienced this with two hotels.

Why is it so cheap there? I don't like this cheap and rich country thing, it is wrong somehow.
@joenandamalie13 күн бұрын
Because Vietnam was closed for the external world until the mid 90s. That means only now is Vietnam becoming gentrified, but only in the hotspots such as Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Nha Trang and Da Nang. There's been a huge boom in the economy lately, and we see this with the locals, who are adopting the Western lifestyle increasingly.
@allon3313 күн бұрын
@@joenandamalie Okay, you are right on that, it is good for their country. I just don't think it should be happening in the first place, one rich one poor, it is unnatural. .
