You are a nicer guy than me. I spend 5 hours I would make a bid for the whole collection because I would not want the scraps. You did a nice job of appraising his coin collection. Who knows maybe he will call you in a month and sell the rest:)

I sold you the gold and green CAC rattlers. I believe things worked out fine. I just like to be treated fairly and i think we accomplished that. I am very timid when it comes to coin dealers. So far so good! Thanks guys!.

Not surprised to hear about any collector getting mixed up with Vaultbox and wanting to get out of the hobby entirely afterward.

Great video,I started coin collecting when I was about 9 and I'm 59 now, best hobby in the world.Over the years I've bought several coin collections of mostly raw coins, the one thing I found out very early some people just don't really understand the value of what they have, whether it be high or low and on occasions people are not happy with what you offer or their more then pleased what you offer, you can't please everyone when appraising a collection to buy and several times I'll just cherry pick out the ones I like or need, but I always get excited even after all these years of going through coins, just so much fun and enjoyable even if a deal falls through or even if I run up on a bunch of junk, lol

That 1895 AU Barber 1/2 in the old 'rattler' holder is just the kind of piece that speaks to me. Attractive, historic and unpretentious. Yes I know there were a lot of higher dollar coins shown too. As in the past thanks for sharing.

For me has a collector the price guide is just tool to use. Nothing is set in stone until the price guide becomes mark unchanged. It becomes a market set fixed value. So the bargaining begins from ones purchased price to top fixed set unchanged value. Unless falls in category of rarity historical, minted population. A good rule to follow keep all receipts. Because of capital gains on collectables, one can take a loss sometimes it happens. It can be applied to your federal taxes. Be diversified in prescious metals is your best bet. Thanks.

Hi Drew. I have used this method many times over the years! Buy the whole collections whenever you can if the seller is ready. You can get a better price and still offer a fair deal. Great video. Jim

Has a coin dealer when I buy collections this is what I do. Give a bulk price. I only tell people the price on key dates, because usually those are the coins they either made money on or lost on. But also by doing that you can show them the breathe of the market.

The time you spend it makes it discouraging and you end up nickel and diming over each coin, the bulk method seems to work especially for run of the mill common coins. Higher end most times you have to go coin by coin

Hi, I've recently have just started watching your videos. Truthfully I'm at a loss. I inherited a bunch of old silver coins recently and they have been in a bin since the 1970's. I'm not sure where to start to have them graded or which would maybe be rare. It's a lot. Some advice where to start?

Every since they put new people at PCGS since covid I felt very strongly about not sending my coins to them I have heard and seen so many video's of people saying that their coins should have gotten a better grade and were really upset and when I just saw some of your coins especially that 1972 Eisenhower Dollar it should have easily graded MS68 .I would not send my coins to PCGS they're not what they use to be.

My boss has been coming up against this very issue( I'm quite glad you made this video as a matter of fact because it's going to be a talking point for us when he gets back from the Baltimore Coin Show) and he just did exactly what you're describing where he had his own sheet behind the table and he used it to get a big total for everything. As you could imagine the original owner brought his collection in a piece at a time as he was liquidating it towards the end of his life( this owner was a man that ended up meeting Castro and had a lot of highlights during his life - not a nobody). In the end, my boss got the whole set including the gold items in the collection which I imagine could have been a part of your possibilities. The video content you're doing is outstanding and could be the biggest thing in the end that you do whether you stay in coins or not as you have a lot of time left in your life - keep learning and putting yourself in a position to succeed by who you surround yourself with.

If I were the collector you were talking about I would’ve done the same thing he did. A lot of times when you get a bulk offer as a collector you feel like you were giving a huge discount. I write down the exact price I paid on every coin I buy worth more than $20. The most I’ve ever spent on a coin is around $10,000. Every person is different but for me, it is important to know what I am getting for the coins I am selling. Perhaps there is a coin I like quite a bit and if I realize I’m actually losing money on selling it I would pull that from the deal.

I hate that it’s so pronounced that it’s a “collector” vs dealer as if the collector is secondary or not an important to an investor dealer.

I can understand wanting to buy the whole collection, especially if there were some better coins in the collection. It probably is frustrating spending money to get there and putting in the time to look at it and then be told the collector only wanted to sell part of it. It seems like it goes both ways though. The seller decided to sell you part of the collecting instead of the whole collection. What would you have done if after looking at the coins, the only ones really worth anything were the ones you bought and the rest were just low grade or high mintage coins of not much value. Would you still want the whole collection or would you just have bought the ones of value to you? Another thing I've seen from videos and some purchases of my own is that while collectors often say they want to sell, deep down they may not want to and only part with some of their collection. I've even seen it in those videos where guys look for bargains in someone's junk and the seller says everything is for sale and then asks for some crazy amount so they won't have to sell it. These guys get attached to their junk which sounds crazy but happens. Collectables are the same way. After years of collecting they become attached.

I watch these coin videos, specifically yours a lot. I dont flip them anymore. I never really did. Just a few flips. Nothing exciting. Anyway its not my thing. I manufacture and sell my own products, deal trading cards, and flip. I can say with baseball card collections. Its the same thing. Sometimes they want you itemize it but I always go to am I buying individual cards from you or the whole collection? We have to decide which one it is. If they are on the fence, I create mini lots and break it down like that for them. That allows us to bring the money makers together with the losers so they can see it. I totally get it though. Thats great you made this video. This is really valuable. I wont do the pricing and individual itemization either. No onesy twoseys here. At the most break it into lots but still buying it all.

Crazy, I was younger once. It would be cool if you want to be 100% TRANSPARENT OF WHAT YOU PAID FOR RATTLERS IN PL EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY REGULAR MS64 GRADES WHICH YOU MORE THEN LIKELY AND YOU "CAN" PLAY WHAT'S ON THE HOLDER. DO YOU, BUT DONT ACT LIKE you bought it for what it's worth. But like i said, " 😢 it for what somethats ignorant to the real price will let you. what it seemed like., honestly, pay what they are willing to sell it for. Honestly, I'll by from the others that sell to me for a proper price,..... but as long as rich ppl are willing to pay a ton over what it's worth then I won't hate, the only problem is that I bought a bought of coins from you for way way over what those coins were worth. I sell coins for a proper price now that I'm a professional and the prices you Charged me to pay for these coins I bought from you were waaaay over What?I would ever pay from my regular dealers... Unfortunately, you only lose buyers and only get a few new buyers because the other buyers that purchase from you are willing to tell the Community how much you were willing to over profit when you didn't need to & You could have just profited a proper amount instead of profited hundreds over what the coins were worth because of the buyers ignorance at the time.... Which those buyers ignorance only lasts a short amount of time once they understand the market... And then you turn into the person that everyone fears as a buyer.🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
