I don't know about Canadian coins specifically but I know with our Lincoln cents here in the states, the red, red-brown and brown distinctions aren't a part of the Sheldon scale, but are rather an attribution. So, for instance, you can have an MS-65 copper coin that is designated brown. It may well be less value than the same coin in red, but still, it could be a very nice coin with significant value. Absolutely! That's especially true for older coins, where they may not have been circulated, but their storage might have left them open to the elements. You don't want to overlook a penny just because it's brown!

It was a great deal. It's hard to come up with a price when you don't really know what will be in there. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes there's a lot of junk. That's the way it goes with treasure hunting!!

relating to the old coin, it was said that before decimalisation ud find coins from all the way back to Elizabeth the First. we shouldve stayed on the old system, such a shame

Pretty much everything is made of multi-ply plated steel now. There's not much nickel in anything at all, anymore!

The animal on the Peruvian coin is most likely a wild Guanaco. They are related to the Vicuna, Alpaca, and Llama.
