It is also because in India, all the Award shows are just forged. People who come for the functions and perform get the awards. This includes National Awards too. There was a time National Awards had its own pride and people used to celebrate it. That has also been corrupted now. Other deserving ones are left and ignored. As an artist, you need some kind of global validation hence India is so obsessed with Oscars. You would never see an Aamir Khan being so enthusiastic about Filmfare Awards but will be putting his best for Oscars. India has a poor selection committee in all industries like entertainment, sports etc. People who are experienced will hold the powerful seats and deserving ones like Guneet Monga, Anurag Kashyap, Sibi Malayil and many other talented creators are kept outside hence India always sends poor movies to Oscars treating it casually. If they had a good selection committee, they could have won Oscars atleast 5-6 times by now easily (considering some of the best literature has been from India).

Forget Oscars.. When are we gonna talk about the rigged National awards and even some state awards?? Sometimes it doesn't even make any sense. At this point nobody should take any award seriously. Celebrate the box office collections and be happy. In the end you make movies for people and if people are coming to watch it ,it is as big as any award. 😂 I also wanna see Indian movies getting oscar but let's be honest there is lot of politics involved in these selection process. So lot of deserving movies are gonna miss out of the race. That's the sad reality.

There is a lot of money to be spent. You need to get enough screenings for your movie and make people attend it, even if there is an entry. You need to rally behind the movie like Rajamouli did. It should be handed over to a PR agency and task them win the oscar for best international film for us. Make their earnings outcome based.
