Creed's a great band... I'll put three Christian/religious bangers you can check on whenever you get a chance. Excellent listening music even if not reactable. These are three popular tracks that all peeps listen to: Matthew West "Broken things" / Lauren Daigle "You say" / Florida Georgia Line "Holy"... Definitely worth a listen at the very least :) I've discovered the music I really FEEL the most, is the music created by people that have quality perspective and humility. The music sounds more heartfelt and real to me from artists with those qualities. Forgot this lol: If you like the goosebumps "You say" will provide them from the very start of the song lolol

I found Creed when I joined the Marine Corps. I've listened to them without ever really listening to and understanding what was being said until a few years ago I started a journey of the Tao (The Way). And then it all became clear. This song in particular was the one that really means something to me. From the video I saw the message but did not yet understand what it meant. It is a message of finding yourself once again, all that was sacrificed for egotistical and material things. The things that are not real. When he pulled himself out of the water. When he consoled his childhood self. He forgave himself and made peace with his past and himself. The storms of childhood to the drowning pools of social media, rock stardom, fame, fortune, work, bills, peer pressures, seduction, all things thereunto pertaining. All the things created by humans.

This is my all time favorite song, it brought me back to my faith in God after I walked away from him after my Dad passed away and it helped me get through 6 months of chemo and radiation treatments. What I get out of this song is this….the reason for the water is symbolizing a baptism, when he pulls himself out of the water and says “I just want to say hello again” it’s like he was born again and all his sins are gone now. “When you are with me I’m free, I’m careless I believe” is about trusting God completely and giving your problems, worry and stress to God because with God all things are possible.

Ya know they criticized heavy metal for singing about satan and they criticized Creed about singing about Christianity. I see him talking about being a whole person like when he rescued himself from the water. That’s freedom. And it also shows that faith in your god ... whomever you worship, brings you peace and freedom.

Great video review! Another great one from Creed is Don't Stop Dancing. There's a great live performance of it from the Olympics in Salt Lake City. Scott paid out of pocket to bring in children who lost loved ones in 9/11 and put them front and center up on the stage. It was really special that performance. You could tell how he stands at the edge of the stage and sings to the children instead of the crowd, stands in the dark while letting the lights shine on them, etc that it was all about them and not Creed. Class act guy

As I understand it, the story goes Creed had been opening for Foo Fighters on a tour. Some shows got canceled because Scott from Creed wasnt feeling well. Foo Fighters felt he was being a bit of a baby. It degenerated into a bit of a feud. Ive seen at least 1 vid of Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters trashing or joking about Scott. Foo being a very big group and Dave being the legend he deserves to be, it didnt work out well for Creed. Thats what i heard many years ago when it happened. For the record, Creed is under rated. They have 5 or 6 great songs. Foo Fighters are also great.

Because Scott Stapp is a punk. Alter Bridge is so much a better band than Creed ever was. If you’re gonna sing about Christianity, live it then. That’s why Skillet is a much better mainstream Christian rock band than Creed could ever be. Live what you preach!

@cloudrunner72 жыл бұрын
Maybe somebody will read this but I have to make the comment. No one gets what this song is about. Scott Stapp is an evangelical Christian. His bandmates didn't want to be a "Christian" rock band so he wrote lots of stealth ( and sometimes not so stealthy ) songs about his relationship with Christ. My Own Prison is not so subtle. My Sacrifice is a love letter to Jesus... that he believes was sacrificed to set him free. The song is wrapped around a loving friendship theme but the core is what I said. Scott stumbled in his early adulthood and recovered. Creed was his personal mission to spread a good message. They were big for a few years and then he stumbled again and the band broke up to distance themselves from his fall. Someone asked why this Creed is scoffed at. They are scoffed at because he was so open about his beliefs and people decided he was a fraud when he stumbled. As if someone who calls themselves a follower of Christ can't possibly be sincere and stil screw up. Fact. Hope this helps someone.
