I don’t think it’s too much of a hot take. Most people I’ve seen talk about this situation don’t really like them either. Like don’t for sure, as far as fam I’m glad that Scoot ended up being with her aunts because they are really sweet and in the comics are shown to really care about her and help her when she needs it most. Maybe if the aunts were introduced in this as her guardians in the first place that would’ve been nice but I’m glad by the end of the episode and in the comic it’s confirmed they became her full time guardians

I really like the MLP in a Nutshell take on The Last Crusade. The entire thing is Scotolo (Scootaloo) saying "Ponyville is my home" over and over, and her parents are too dense for it to sink in. Seriously though, her mom and dad obviously care about her but aren't very good at parenting. You can see how they thought moving to a place where they could all live together would be a good idea, but they didn't stop to think about how disruptive it would be to Scootaloo's life. Especially since their work would probably still take precedence over spending time with her.

This is a very sad CMC episode. Scootaloo's parents finally made their appearance. I actually like Scootaloo's aunties. I don't want the CMCs to go apart from each other 😭😭😭💖💖💖

Great couple of episodes. Like always Startrix interactions are great but Maud was the one who really made the episode so good for me, her jokes and reaction to mud being turned to stone were hilarious. Scootaloos aunts were actually originated from one of the comics. This episode does conflict with some things that were said and perhaps hinted before (like in parental glideance when she said no one ever told her she would be the best in anything while her parents seem like they probably do say that even if they are nearly never home, and her aunts are very supportive) but as for the episode itself it was good. Her Aunts and parents are great additions. Her parents are very interesting characters, that said they are clearly not good at parenting, with being away from their daughter so much and not really listening to her, they certainly love her however they don't show it properly.

"Student Counsel" is yet another season 9 episode I love! It was very interesting to see a group of unlikely secondary characters interact with each other, And I found Starlight's situation in this episode to be somewhat relatable because depending on the situation making time between doing your job and hanging out with your friends can be very difficult. And it was intriguing to see that Silverstream managed to tame a Cockatrice of all creatures. As for "The Last Crusade" people had mixed feelings about that episode, Because on the one hoof it was awesome to finally see Scootaloo's parents. But on the other hoof people in the fandom hated that Hasbro waited until literally the final season to introduce them. And a lot of people hated Scootaloo's parents having learning that they basically abandoning their own daughter for their career, And then all of a sudden they just show up with the intent to make Scootaloo leave the only home she's ever known, Definitely the worst parents ever. Though a lot of people loved Scootaloo's aunts! Especially because they were literally the first ever confirmed LGBTQ couple in the FIM series! And when I first saw their interaction with Scootaloo I for one could tell that even though she's their niece, Deep down Holiday and Lofty think of Scootaloo as like the daughter that they never had. And I was so proud when the CMC were given that 3 horse shoe ceremonial key, They both truly earned and deserved it!

For many episodes, we didn’t have a clue about who watches out for Scootaloo when she’s at home. Does she have a legal guardian? Is she an orphan? Ultimately, we finally get to see her missing parents! They just constantly travel. (10:55) And just seeing the CMC cry like that. I can’t tell if I should be pitying them or find it adorably hilarious. 🤔

Very mixed feelings about this episode. On one hand, Scootaloos parents are pretty bad parents. Not necessarily because they're absent, they clearly care about Scootaloo and want to make sure she is happy. But the forcing her to move just after returning into her life? Thats a dick move. Im glad she and the town stood their ground and made them see how much she needs to stay. It does feel like a bit of a copout that her aunts just so HAPPEN to move to Ponyville so they can keep taking care of her, but... well, lets be honest: who would WANT to see the CMCs broken up and Scootaloo written out of the series?! Sometimes when youre enjoying a piece of fiction you gotta say nuts to logic and sense, and just go with the emotionally gratifying option

To me, Snap Shutter and Mane Allgood are just really terrible. The fact they leave Scootaloo for so long and when they finally come back they’re like “Oh we’re going away again and you’re coming with us and we don’t care if you miss your friends or not”. Those are the kind of parents you don’t want in your life. Now, some say that Aunt Holiday and Aunt Lofty make the perfect parents, but I disagree. They’re nowhere to be seen when Scootaloo gets her Cutie Mark or does her report is just awful. To me, they’re just as bad as Snap and Mane. Not to mention Scootaloo said in the episode Parental Glideance “ Growing up, I never thought I’d be the best at anything, because nopony ever told me.” This could indicate that she has badly neglected by all four ponies. This is why, in my opinion, Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles make the perfect parents for Scootaloo. Sure while they somtimes go overboard with their support towards Rainbow, their hearts are in the right places and at least they’re actually there for her. If they did the same thing but with Scootaloo, that would have been great. To me, it was completely unnecessarily to bring Snap, Mane, Hoilday and Lofty into the show. Bow, Windy and Rainbow are Scootaloo's REAL family. As Kyle Broflovski from South Park said “Family isn’t about whose blood you have in you, family is about the people who cared about you and took care of you.” Sure they’re not the same blood, but Rainbow loves her little sister. And so do Bow and Windy. For my headcanon, Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles adopt Scootaloo and make her their 2nd child and Rainbow's official little sister.

RANT INCOMING: I really hate the last crusade, it’s the worst episode for multiple reasons (I used to think grannies was the worst and it is bad but at least it has a happy ending), in crusade we have hasbro creating characters from nowhere, who didn’t need to exist (and actually make past episodes worse because turns out scootaloo wasn’t an orphan pony she just had neglectful parents). One of worst things is though in the episode they don’t go far enough because in the first few minutes they’re shown to have a good relationship ex. Scoots writing to them, them fawning over her, they’re a bit overeager to move yes but I couldn’t bring myself to hate them misguided they may have been I believe they truly wanted the best for the daughter (though I really was rooting for rainbow to adopt her at the end), to the point where (and this is gonna sound horrible) I almost would’ve preferred them to be out and out abusive just so I could hate them like the show obviously wanted and expected. What they do though is even worse in a comic after the episode (which I can’t bother to learn the name of) they somehow ruin scoot’s parents again painting them as even more neglectful and borderline abusive, and just to add the cherry on top in the end of that whole arc she give up scoots to be adopted by her aunts, so in the span of a single episode (mostly comic) hasbro managed to ruin at least 3 characters, the parents who were only there because they didn’t want scoots to be an orphan pony (which considering what we got woulda been better) and it even managed to ruin scoots a little bit because now in past episodes when scoot herself implies she’s an orphan no she just has neglectful and abusive parents

My least favorite episode in the whole series. Like it was cool and all to finally get some info on scoot and her parents. But this?! This was the explanation? Every other time. It's been represented as she's an orphan or her parents are gone. Like we even see that she's being taken care of by her aunts. But NO. Her parents are magically super famous and popular explorers and that's why they've been missing. Such a waste. They've already tackled losing parents with AJ. But here they just went with the WORST route possible
