A few fun facts: 1. Kevin Williamson, the scriptwriter, confirmed that Stu was the one who killed Casey in the opening. 2. When Stu brings him out to Sidney, Neil Prescott is wearing the same clothes he was wearing early in the film. This means that Billy only talked to Sidney to distract her from Stu kidnapping her father. He even plays music so Sidney won’t hear the struggle.

Y'all asked how the killer was just walking around in public places in full costume. Like the cops said, they sold it in every costume shop. You see there were multiple people goofing off with one on at the school. If the killer got caught with it, they'd just say they were playing a practical joke on their friends and go free. That was probably a tribute to the first 'Halloween' and how Michael Myers was following the main characters home in broad daylight. Amanda asked why they kept referencing movies. That's the thing about this film, it's a big tribute to the teen slasher movie genre. It's what you call "meta." Part of what made it so much fun was that the main characters don't live in a world where "scary movies" don't exist. They know the rules of how to survive so it's ironic when they still manage to fall victim to the same mistakes and in certain instances be killed off. Perfect example: the first time Sidney talks on the phone with Ghostface she says all the girls in horror movies always run upstairs instead of out of the front door. Not a full five minutes later, Sidney herself runs up the stairs trying to get away lol. Then when Amanda said they did it intentionally when the actor kept saying Jamie Lee Curtis (onscreen in Halloween) needed to turn around. That actor's real name is Jamie Kennedy. 😂

1. What I like most about doing this is watching people overthink it. 2. Cell phones weren't prevalent in 1996. 3. Dewey's superior IS the janitor since Wes Craven did the cameo as Freddy Kruger. 4. The principal was the Fonz/Henry Winkler. (one of Fonzie's Jacket is on a coat hanger in the closet) 5. Tatum/Rose McGowan as long as I have a face. 6. I love how the inept killer keeps getting his ass kicked 7. Fun fact: The reporter lady that ends saying "People have the right to know." is played by Linda Blair/Reagan from "The Exorcist".

The opening scene felt very familiar. I was in high school at the same time and nobody I knew had a cell phone. They were expensive and unnecessary. Most landlines didn't have caller ID. If someone didn't identify themselves right away when you picked up (and you didn't ask who it is) you usually would figure it put pretty quick once you start talking. We Gabe our numbers to friends on scraps of paper or scribbled in their notebooks. So with the exception of an occasional crank call or misdial it was pretty easy to assune whoever er was calling was for you.

FUN FACTS: actress Rose McGowan, who played Tatum, could actually fit through the dog door very easily. She had to pretend that she couldn't fit through the dog door to complete the scene. During the scene where Sidney jumps out the closet to stab Billy with an umbrella, actress Neve Campbell(Sidney) unknowingly stabbed actor Skeet Ulrich (Billy) for real. Skeet was really screaming from the pain

Scream is iconic because it took a risk at being different. At the time people were getting board with all the Michael,Jason etc sequels. The horror genre was basically dying during the early 90's. Scream basically woke everyone up from sleep with its unique style. It's a film about the horror genre. It's so self aware cause it points out the common horror tropes. It also sadly inspired real life incidents where people were cracking on violence in films. Scream is also the reason caller ID bommed. Even though it's a movie for entertainment its actually the realistic idea of it that makes it scary. There have been real copycat crimes that were being made afterwards.

Scream 1996 is not really a parody, it instead is satire of the horror genre. There's a real difference where as "Scary Movie" is a straight up parody played just for laughs. There was nothing like Scream in 1996 & it was very fresh to make references to other well-known horror films, mocking them, while also leading to similar plot beats
