Thanks for also making it a separate playlist, I found second hand fluorescent 5 foot lights and put one directly over my bench. With factories going led -they are cheap 🙏🏻

It warms my heart to see last years NY stickers on the windshield. Figured out the REAL reason you're yanking the LT-1...its that cold air kit, right?! We'll talk about this on MotorMouth Radio with you for sure!

Last 2 years of LS1 (Corvette/Cadillac) had full floating pistons. LS 2 onwards are full full floating pistons. Rectangle port heads use a different rocker cover (if using factory) - needed for the offset rockers.

Those rods that have the little rings are called piston pin rings and I used to make them at my old plant before they closed in 2003. Made them for GM, CHRYSLER, SATURN, MAHLE, and HARLEY DAVIDSON.

Doing a 6 litre LS V8 conversion isn't a bad idea at all,at least it won't start like a Ford does. The multi fire ignition system would be much better than what the LT1 V8 engine currently has because my 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine in my 2002 model Holden VY SS Commodore starts first go even after it has been sitting in the shed & not started for 3 days. Mine is an alloy block type of LS1 V8 engine & it came out before Chevrolet fitted the fully floating wrist pins which was in about 2005 in the Holden VZ Commodore & WL Statesman (aka the Chevrolet Caprice in the U.S.). They made other changes such as changing over to equal length cylinder head bolts from the unequal cylinder head bolt engine which is fitted into my car.. If I ever consider doing an engine rebuild then I would buy some used fully floating type connecting rods on eBay from the U.S. then fit new pistons & rings because I believe that there may be a little bit of wear on one of the pistons skirts because it sometimes has some piston slap when it's cold which goes away after a few seconds when driving the car. Cylinder number 6 had a slight amount of scuffing at the bottom of the cylinder so I think that the engine needs at least a set of new standard sized pistons if I ever decide to rebuild the engine. At the moment it's pulling a lot better than it did when I bought it 16 years ago when I first bought the car which was tweaked slightly including a dyno tune , custom exhaust headers/ system fitment & a 3.46:1 to 3.91:1 diff ratio change. I have ripped the original exhaust system & headers out then I upgraded to a set of 1 5/8" primary Genie exhaust headers,hi flow cats & a Twin 2.5" mandrel bent Redback cat back exhaust system, note that the original exhaust system was only a twin 2.25 inch exhaust system which I replaced twice & the custom headers were only Press bent meaning that the primaries in a lot of cases was only 1.5 inches in diameter because they were crushed by the press bender. The tuning has been tweaked as well since I replaced all of that, it was putting out 276 flywheel kilowatts when I first bought the car. It's done over 397,000 kilometres now so about 250,000 miles & it doesn't burn a lot of oil, perhaps 1.5 litres or 1.5 quarts within the 10,000 kilometre or 6000 kilometre oil change interval !

Let the fun begin lol. I've never worked on an LT engine and I always thought those water pumps were electric. Hopefully the engine will come out the top, it'd make life a whole lot easier. Have fun 😁

There were a lot of problems with the OptiSpark ignition system. A 6.0 LS with L92 heads and a good cam would be a prime candidate for the Camaro.

The benefit to that bar for the rear is that is something you don't have to figure out with the LS swap.

Also, I just wanted to add that the t-56 trans will handle the power of that 6.0 but it would have to be torn down and put stage 2 parts in it with billet steel synchronizer keys, carbon fiber/kevlar blocker rings, steel 3/4 shift fork and bronze fork pads. I built mine and it’s behind a 402 stroker I built out of a 6.0 block and works great.

I've seen in other YT videos where folks unbolted the K frame (with the motor still attached) and the drive line and lifted the front of the car up with a cherry picker. Then slide the engine and K frame assembly out and to the side.

I don't blame you, that is a terrible design on the LT1. The engineers really despised service techs apparently.

I have no idea why they didn’t go with dis ignition. GM was building such systems for 10 years when the LT1 came out.

Nice toy you got there. That thing will burn the tires off with that LS. I think going automatic is a good thing, many will argue. Though it is fun to drive a stick, it has been proven many times that no matter how good you are, a person can not shift as fast as an auto transmission.

this has nothing to do with this video but i want to know your thoughts on when to do a new pickup trucks first oil change ,do i wait till it gets 4 or 5 thousand miles is it ok to do it early say 1000 or 1500 miles thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us

I prefer to do the very first oil change at 1500. My thought is that any assembly "gunk" should get flushed out sooner rather than later. I'm not going off any data, just my personal preference. Thanks for asking that question. Keep wrenching 🔧
