Very kind, we're so glad to be able to share our love of larking about in the present and looking back through the past - such a shame so many of the old lines have gone, I think it would have been amazing to go off on adventures along the smaller routes into the countryside. So glad you enjoyed it, thank you so much! :D

Hello Nicole and Craig, another great video, superb editing, it must of taken you ages! We enjoyed the relaxed explores, history + jewellery making. Astonishing just how many public rail routes were cut and the legacy this has left, Andy and Josie 😀

Very kind, thank you! Well... the editing... I'm embarrassed to say how long these wee videos take to make! LOL It is such a shame that so many of the wee lines have gone - my dad used to tell me about how he'd pack a tent, jump on a train and just shoot off for the weekend as a teen! Changed times! Thank you so much! Hope all is well with you and yours, Craig & Nicole :D

Beautiful place to explore! Parts of it reminded me of Wick. We went there on holiday a few years back. When we got off the train I had the strangest feeling of coming home. Maybe in another life I lived in Scotland. Anyway, love your earrings! Thanks for taking me along!

So glad you were along with us! :D I've never been to Wick... so many places to go! Very nice to hear Scotland made you feel at home - many visit and never leave when they find that feeling. Thank you so much! :D

I really miss the trains that once ran frequently in Ontario, and trains are still my favourite way to travel. I wish all old train lines could be resurrected! Lovely jewelry-making, Nicole. All of the best to you both.

Craig used to have a three round commute and loved taking the train back and forth each day! It would be lovely if the old lines were back, to just sit back and enjoy the country passing by. Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed the video! Our very best from Scotland! :D

Oh Nicole! Those earrings are just so pretty! It makes me feel chrismassy already. Thankyou Craig for taking time and trouble to research the history of the place. It is a little sad that there are no longer train service to that place but what an outing it must have been for the families a long time ago to travel the distance for picnics. I really love this video. Thankyou. Tammy🌻

So glad you enjoyed the video - the earrings are very cute! It was quite nostalgic reading through some of the accounts of the time - it brought back so many of the stories my father and grandmother told me about the slow trains that made their way along the coast towards the seaside! Thank you so much! :D

Hi! So kind, thank you so much! I guess it must be because my dad, gran and so many others used to talk about their holidays around that coast... I read more than one account talking about how slow the trains were on these small routes - would have been faster walking, some said, and it reminded me that my dad told me he'd jump off the train and run to catch it up and jump on again! I suspect he was maybe just winding up a wee boy - wow! So many years ago! :D Thank you so much for your amazing support! xo

So glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, we agree, its such a shame - it would have been lovely to arrive at the seafront by train... some of the accounts I read said the trains moved really slowly, and it was just such a joy to sit back and follow the coast. Thank you so much! Stay safe and well - we're so lucky to have so much space around us just now... Crazy times, indeed! Much love and blessings to you and yours! :D

“A spring clean for the May Queen.” I think when Nicole found the cream pot shard she was shaking, just couldn’t wait to pick it up! I would love to sit and make jewelry with Nicole. I make a lot of earrings and pendants but alas not with sea glass as I don’t live close to the ocean, I’m in the woods!

Haha! Yes indeed - I'm glad my wee Led Zeppelin reference got picked up on! :D You're right, so many times where Nicole is just desperate to get a hold of a find - I feel awful for trying to capture the moment as it happens, which often means Nicole has to bounce excitedly while I focus the camera! We love the woods, but the shores and rivers are where we find ourselves most often... We'll be in the woods in a few weeks! I'm editing it now! :D Thank you so much!

Oh how I love riding on trains🥰. The sound of the whistle and the gentle rocking of the carriage as you whizz by the scenery outside your window. The train ride from Southern California to Oregon along the coast is so beautiful. Before I moved to Oregon, I would visit my sisters, and I would ALWAYS go by train. Sure flying was only about an hour and 45 minutes (26hrs by train), but you miss all lovely ocean views and interesting cities and towns. Plus my maternal grandfather was an engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad many, many years ago. 🤷🏼♀️ Guess loving trains is in my blood😉. Wow, some really nice pottery pieces. Even the wee bit with the spring green , and green is not one of my favorite colors, is truly a beauty 🥰. Your pottery pendant Nicole is FABULOUS 😲😍, and the Christmas tree earrings...ADORABLE!!!! Makes my forlorn for the spring and summer, already 🤦🏼♀️. Oregon is pretty dreary.... foggy, rainy and cold, this time of year. And I'm very far from the coastal region. So no blustery walks on the beach 😏. Hoping the UK lockdown will ease up soon for you two🤞🏻. Love from across the pond. 😊🤗🤭😘🙋🏼♀️.

Nothing like a good train journey! I used to commute, only an hour each way, but the train ride was usually the best part of the day! :D I do enjoy flying over cities at night, but the slower stroll of a train, taking in all that is around, is wonderful! So glad you enjoyed the video... I love winter, but, only until about half way through - the days get so short here in mid-winter - there is a beauty to it, but you can't help but pine for the feel of the sun on your back! :D We're also in that foggy time of year, but we get the sun popping through now and again - when the foggy low sky clears, it gets icy! Were back at the coast next week and in a new location - thankfully, it was a remarkable Autumn day with amazing sunshine! Thank you - thankfully, Scotland is not yet as tied down as things are in England (we really feel for folks there) but I suspect it might get that way before too long - fingers crossed it doesn't. Hope things are doing well in Oregon. Much love from Scotland! xo

Thank you both for the charming history of railroads in that area. Train travel is still an important means of transport for passengers and freight in the British Isles. In the nineteenth and early twentieth Centuries there were many Railroad lines and spur lines throughout my former home State of New Jersey. With the push by Automobile Barons, the emphasis went from railroads to vehicles and by the middle of the 20th century many small lines that travelled to central and south Jersey were abandoned except for a few including the one to Cape May area . In my adventures throughout the state I often found abandoned rails and in some cases just the ties. Thank you for the memories:) Cheers, Rik Spector

Thank you so much! That's really interesting... The oil boom in the UK didn't happen until the early-mid 1970s though there are some who say there were business interests (road construction industry) were involved! The UK looks set to face a choice soon though and, in some places, pubic transport infrastructure is being invested in once again. Its such a shame that so many of the smaller lines, both in the US and UK closed down... That's so interesting, I hadn't really thought to compare - thank you! So glad we helped kindle some good memories! Cheers! :D

So glad you enjoyed it! :D Yes, for the time being, we are all good - we have been promised a full lock-down if people breach the regional boundaries! Fingers crossed that does not happen. You need to try the beach over the river Leven. You can gain access easy you need to go over the bawbee turn left go fifty yards down the road there’s a wee lay-by park their through the wall back towards the river just at the edge of the bridge you get access there . Plenty of historical stuff , do you know what those poles were used for .

Thank you so much! That's awesome! I'm not sure if you have seen the harbour video we put out on Friday, we moan about not knowing how to get to that shore! We knew there had to be a way through because we saw a few folks there, but we have not had time to look around - so this is great to know! Thank you! We reckond that there must at least be a bunch of industrial stuff related to the old power station - now we know how to get there, I reckon we'll pop over fairly soon! :D The poles look like they might have been harbour guides, or moorings - perhaps even the foundation of a wooden structure adjoining the harbour or (though I doubt this most) some kind of pier - I'm sure I'd have found mention of that while researching the harbour. We found a few sources of old postcards and photographs, but nothing yet that shows them in place in the past, but we're always looking! Awesome, thank you so much! That's really helpful! :D
