I had to replace my CDI box aswell and couldn’t find any new Big bear CDI box’s but I did find a New Kodiak 400 CDI box and it worked a treat. Only cost me $40 for it

@RaymoreRepair can you tell me why my 2001 Big Bear 400 , 4×4 is hard to pull start ? I can barely pull it over with two hands and yet my Sportsman h.o 500 is really easy to pull start.

Your videos are great! thank you! i have a kodiak 400 with similar issues. cranks all day, no spark. Worked fine after some basic maintenance, after a test ride it was idling and just quit. The rotation direction coil tested out of spec with 0 ohm/continuity. Could this rotation direction coil stop the bike from sparking? Its the only think ive found out of spec so far.

Sounds like it could be your issue. Thank you for watching.

Great video. I'm enjoying watching you work on these machines. Currently I am working on a project to do a full restoration on my 1985 Yamaha 200 Moto 4. Posting my videos as I go. Progress is much slower for me as I am not an ATV mechanic by trade. Currently working to find out what I believe may be an electrical short that is grounding the machine out and preventing the machine from starting, either with battery power or via the pull starter. Got spark, fuel, air, and compression. Motor turns over just fine but won't fire up. Since the spark plug does fire, I'm thinking the kill switch or the ignition off switch may be grounding out. Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks for the video very helpful ! Which two wires from the cutout relay did you jump to make the starter work? I am currently having some of the same grounding problems on my 2000 big bear.
@RaymoreRepair Жыл бұрын
I do not remember which two to jumped. but I got a service manual for $10.00 off Ebay and followed it.

I just got a Big Bear 350, it starts fine but smokes for a bit, then it runs okay ? I am thinking it needs a look at lifters and rings?
