Unfortunately I’m team Nozi this time lol, sorry Ta Skhu. But I love how honest Nozi was when she agreed that she’d laugh and make fun of people for trying to look good with expensive things, but now that she affords it she actually has fallen into that group that buys these things. Most of us( especially women) are like that as well. When we can’t afford we convince ourselves that you can look good without breaking the bank, but as soon as you’re financially stable you then start to have a bigger appetite to spoil yourself.

Totally agree. I’ve had plenty of conversations about this with my husband and he says there’s nothing wrong with wanting certain things but you just need to interrogate why you like them. If we didn’t see certain things on social media, perfumes, wigs, clothes, we wouldn’t want them or care as much. We wouldn’t actively seek those things out when we go shopping. Social media does influence our likes in some way and that’s not necessarily bad we just need to be aware of it and how it can sometimes be a pitfall.

Cc Nozi to be honest with you I feel like nyhani in life siyatshintsha. To give you an example. Last month me and my husband bought a couch , but when we bought it it was a fight because it was expensive ne. I still insisted that we get it because imali yayo ikhona my husband wasn’t happy about that. The last month we had visitors , the first thing they noticed was the couch so they complimented it and whatever. Not my husband bragging about how nice it is to have a wife you even end up buying things you never imagined yourself buying. I love this conversation. I understand Skhu's point of view as a provider and protector. There are men that are extra careful when it comes it finances and spending. This is what I’m currently going through. Kumnandi xa incokolwa ihlekwa but deep down it’s not easy . Like today I was craving for a milkshake because (I work hard) I could see my unemployed mother was not happy about this . By the way I am a breadwinner at home , so I ended up buying McD for everyone which almost cost about R500 . I saw that my mom wasn’t happy as a result she went to bed early. I kind of regret myself but I thought I deserved the milkshake it was just nothing. But as of lately I have realised siyasokola ekhayeni n my lifestyle doesn’t match my home situation so I’m kind of in a dilemma to a point that I’m asking myself just because I’m coming out of poverty does that mean I can’t do something nice for myself ?
