Check out what we found while out exploring in the Nevada desert. Is that blood on that wash cloth? Why did someone leave their shoes and clothing up here in this abandoned house?
After I watched the video I noticed the possibly bloody wash cloth. Could be anything really, but I thought it was strange to see all the clothing, shoes, etc stuffed into a plastic container / bag. Why would someone leave all their stuff up in this desolate abandoned building?
What do you think? Should we go back and check the contents of the plastic container / bag?
Come with us as we explore this creepy ABANDONED cabin hidden in the woods, just outside the desert. This old house was full of stuff, both old and new. It's in very bad shape and it's a shame nobody has repaired it. It will eventually collapse and be gone forever, but we take you along on our trip to show it to you before that happens.

I have stayed at that cabin many times, winter is the best time. I have seen 2 feet of snow at the cabin door. The outhouse blew down about 2 years ago. The rancher put in the water trough in about 4 years ago it suck because the cattle destroy everything. Please do not tell the location. It's a really special place with a lot of regular people have been visiting for many years.

No worries, I never share locations due to the vandals who love to destroy everything. I also hate the cattle that destroy everything. I plan to get out there and volunteer some time to repair the cabin. The front deck could use a complete overhaul.

@@ExploreWithUs Hi this is an old post but I hope you are still around on youtube doing your thing. This is a great point about volunteering and putting work into a cabin that some people might be using from time to time but nobody actually owns. When you start putting time and effort into improving it you have a more legitimate claim to use it than just a random person who wants to use and damage it. Live if you left a note like cabinets replaced by 'dan' or deck repaired by 'dan' or whatever name you use maybe the other person if they ever come back leave a note for you and get a dialogue going and mutual use. It is most likely a lonely person or 2 going up there to get away from life for a bit like camping and not an escaped felon hiding out like you might think from a movie or something lol. To all the people saying I hope you carry a guy while doing this, that really sounds insane to me. Hopefully if you felt it was that dangerous you would just not go inside and b) if some crazy person were there and saw a stranger walking around with a gun maybe they would pull a gun on you or get their hunting rifle loaded up and pulled on you. That could go down really bad. Unless its normal out there everyone caries a gun and that is just the normal procedure. Anyways I really like the videos and the idea of semi abandoned cabins hidden in away.

These kinda cabins, shacks, bothies etc used to be everywhere in every country not long ago. They were to ride out bad weather here in the UK or workers places. No one wrecked them but now there is a change of mentality in people. Everything gets wrecked for fun. Many secret awesome shelters here in the lake district uk have been ruined and destroyed. It's extremely sad.

In the west there is a number of cabins like this around. I used to stay in one as s young man with friends. There was a note on the wall that said “feel free to use the cabin but please leave it as you found it”. It was basically just a shack like this one but dry and a great place to stay with friends for a couple days.

too many people watch shit movies, it's just a cabin. doors don't get locked so places don't get broken in and damaged. if you use the place you clean it up and leave extras for other travelers. used to be way more common than it is now in the modern world. love reading the guest books, people from all over telling their stories. generally not a hideout for serial killers.

Spent many a summer day there at Coyote Cabin. Someone has done a lot of repairs and upgrades. On the back wall of the bunkroom before it was painted was the history of the cabin. One story I remember was of a cowboy who broke his leg and spent the winter there. I think that was in the late 1800's. We used to call the rock columns you can see looking down into the valley "Devils Gate". Thank you for posting the video; brings back some memories.

Was homeless for a few yrs; it sure is very appreciated if some stranger, hopefully a friend not foe, when unsure walking into a camp and not sure if currently inhabited, start announcing yrself while slowly approaching; "thinks like hey this is jennifer, and i'm not sure if anyone is there or if this camp abandoned; can i come in?" and announce who you are, like a curious tourist because some people absolutely hate cops for all kinds of reasons; bringing snack foods like chips, and always impt water or even clean socks&a clean t-shirt, should someone is occupying a spot/camp means a lot should someone be taking up residence! Rarely someone will firmly yell&answer back no entry. But in my homeless experience(i was in a smaller area and the metro areas of the nation no way i could survive!); but in my area, most homeless friendly&welcoming; the 'gifts' very practical and very much appreciated as even getting laundry done is sometimes an impossible task and my always clean feet sure did easily take up almost always nasty constant grunge, even though cleaner than some other extremely nasty feet(males) that i've ever seen. Anyways, just a tip or two on about the most logical way to approach a camp/spot.

Please remember!! Do NOT stir up dust in these places.If you guys do happen to stay in any one of these places and decide tidy up and broom sweep,wear dust mask.Double, triple up with them is my suggestion.Respirator is best. You can contract hantavirus. I'm a CMA. I've seen a few to many people sick and/or die from hantavirus.Mostly hunters hunkering down in shacks like these or blinds. I tell you this because i care about you and your girl. Oh and keep up the great work. thumbs up
@ExploreWithUs
@ExploreWithUs 8 жыл бұрын
Hantavirus is one of my biggest concerns and why I try to never stir up any dust. I do have a respirator if I enter any buildings with a lot of rodent droppings and plan to look through stuff. I might start bringing some diluted spray bleach to wet down any dust when I enter places where bleach wouldn't destroy anything. It's interesting that most people are completely unaware of Hantavirus. With a nearly 50% kill rate, you would think it would be more well known. Thank you for the comment and I agree 100%.

Very cool. I want to start exploring the wilds and look for places like this. I'm just traumatized coz as a kid, I used to play around in an abandoned cathedral with my friends, but one time, we met a strange man who we have never seen in all the months we played there. I can't remember his face, but I just know that he was slightly deformed as I glanced back when we ran away to home. I know that I probably sound cuckoo, but I definitely know that I wasn't hallucinating. Never went back to that cathedral ever again.

OK. I've just spent three hours doing feather identification research. There are several reasons why I can't positively identify it. 1: I can't see the full feather because some plant is blocking the end of it. 2: I can't be sure of it's size. I can only guess that it is 5 to 7 inches inches in length. 3: I can't tell if I am looking at the obverse or reverse side of it, even when I go full screen. 4: I can not find ANY feathers listed with the banding so few and widely spaced. Next time you want a feather identified please gently pick it up by the quill that once was attached to the bird. Hold a quarter up next to the feather for size identification. If it's a very big feather, use a dollar bill. Get a good, clear shot of both sides. What I can tell you is that I was probably wrong earlier in my reply to someone when I said it might be a Wild Turkey feather. The bandings on it are too wide and few to be a Turkey feather and are the wrong color. From what I have found, I believe it to be either an outer primary wing feather, or a secondary wing feather, or an outer tail feather of some type of Bird of Prey. The list of "definitely nots" are: Roadrunner, Pigeon, Mockingbird, Grouse, Quail, and Red Tailed Hawk. Owls are on the list of "probably are."

Someone owned that land. Liken to an old B Movie, I imagined some crazed occupant up on the hillside - hidden - with a scope's crosshair on your head, just watching you. Joking. At one time it could have been a Hideout/Hangout - possible Hunting Cabin, when there was less people & more Game. I great that people respect the place and haven't destroyed it. Hope it lasts. Music - this is when you see a couple of burned out wrecks and the bodies. You hear the Bolt Action and the Lady SCREAMS. Joking. Some have used the place. Nice Video. Enjoyed. Thanks. Wild Imagination.

From the dates over the bedroom area it indicates that it is an old homestead cabin. becasue it is on public land now doesn't mean it was on public land when it was built. Sheep herders cabin comes to mind, although that may have been a later use for it. Somebody took the time to try to preserve and up grade it. BLM and forest service rent out or lease those cabins on an occasional basis. Also homeless people use cabins in remote locations like that to survive cold or inclement weather. The skull was either a sheep skull or a deer skull, (female) without looking at the teeth I couldn't tell you which.

That is the most fascinating and beautiful place I have seen yet. Judging by what was written on the pad, it looks like the cabin was used as a retreat for either a family or group of friends and their families in exchange for them doing work on the place while they stay there, as they mentioned what they had fixed and cleaned and who was with them at the time. Then it looks like they suddenly stopped going after that last entry, I wonder why? really curious.

Thank you Karen, and I agree. I will have to go back and read more of the log book. Seems people still visit, but it doesn't look like anyone is keeping the place up. I might have to go up there with some tools and fix it up some.

At 4:00, there's a date from 2014 on the wall. A date from 2000 at 4:38. 5:18 there's a 11/2014 date from someone named Stacey. This cabin is known about by a lot of people. Coyote Cabin. A lot of people apparently just go there and stay and it is one of those "open" cabins where people just go and spend time and possibly hunt, I guess. www.backpacker.com/trips/las-vegas-nv-hidden-forest-cabin I love these areas where it is an open area with very interesting landscapes. Lots of rocky hills with growth. Maybe it is just me, but I love areas like this. They seem so mysterious and call out to me. That cabin is nicely perched on the high ground and away from the flash floods, too.

Omg please be careful! Get a concealed to carry, bear spray, a key chain boat horn, ropes(for if you fall thru a floor or in a hole) NEVER go alone-be prepared! Sorry, I'm a Mom and I worry and I enjoy your videos and respectful way you do this. I would really like you to have somebody dull time doing the backgrounds on these places. The stories would be pretty interesting and some tragic I'm sure. But you do a great job. Be careful kiddos. God bless

I have been exploring for over 20 years now, and I have never run into anyone who has been less than friendly. On the back roads everyone waves at each other, and people are generally very kind. With that said, I rarely if ever see anyone at the places I go. They are so remote that you would know if someone were there already. They would have to have a car in order to survive even for the short term. After doing this for a while, you learn to know what signs to look for in terms of someone being present. If you run into someone in these places, chances are they don't want to be found or be bothered. The biggest danger is running into an illegal grow or drug manufacturing operation. That's a real threat. I am always prepared for worse case scenario. Thanks for the comment and concern. :-)
