I'm glad to see you are doing well but for as long as you were near those turbines, it had to do some damage to you! All of you! It is NOT WORTH YOUR HEALTH to show such radioactive equipment! My God! That was April 1986 and those turbines are horribly contaminated! Even after all this time! You said they hadn't even been used yet! They had to be right near the middle of the explosion! They may have been ready to change out a few turbines, so these were near. I can't think of any other way they could be so contaminated! I worry about you guys! You've got to quit going to such dangerous places. In 10 or 20 years your health could be in jeopardy! It's not worth it my friends. Yes it is interesting content, however content will be of little consequence when you are dying or dead from exposure! Personally I would love to walk thru the remains of reactor hall #4. However that would be a 1 time event and I'd leave before the time I would be given in there would expire. So I do understand your motivation. However you have to think of your future and what your death would do to your family!
@ps3master722 жыл бұрын
Radiation dangers aside, you guys really need to wear good respirators and not breathe in the dust. Not only could it be radioactive and release particles inside of you (not good, causes cancer), this dust could also contain asbestos, which can also be a huge cancer risk when breathed into your lungs (because it stays lodged in your lungs forever and can mess up cell reproduction causing cancer). Mesothelioma cancer is no joke and is most often a death sentence, and can occur 20 to 40 years AFTER asbestos exposure. Don't worry, you aren't going to die if you breathed in a little bit of asbestos, but with increased exposure comes increased risk. Just be safe, guys. We don't want to see you get ill. ❤️
@ollie40222 жыл бұрын
The radiation is only little. Either it’s 3 milliroentgen per hour of millisieverts per hour, both relatively low quantities (3 millisieverts per hour is the higher of the two, still nothing to worry about). I know this for a fact because of it were 3 roentgen per hour or something ridiculously high such as that, it would not have been left on the surface like that. A lot of care has been taken to decontaminate and bury the hottest material. The turbines from Reactor 4 were likely buried. The hottest material you will find are small samples of reactor radionuclides (sand grain size) however much of this has also been removed in top soil burying processes. Contrary to the video commentary, titanium is rarely used in turbine blades, and is more likely to be nickel superalloy, again not worth much per kilogram (probably €10 kg scrap value) and so not worth the trouble to extract from the turbine housing.

@MaxArceus2 жыл бұрын
Nothing you can do it will make it not radioactive. ..except maybe putting it into one of those turbines they use to split U238 from U235, that might also work for splitting other metals.. But that's not feasible. So yeah, melting it down won't do shit, and it keeps being dangerous.
@jdmbeats2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the explanations. I assumed the heat generated during melt-down (no pun intended) would render the metal safe, and destroy any radiation particles. That's very fascinating, I learned something new today. 👍
@MaxArceus2 жыл бұрын
@@jdmbeats Funny thing you should mention a melt down. During a nuclear melt down, the fuel overheats itself, and literally melts down. The super heated molten uranium lava eats its way through concrete and any other stuff it might encounter, turning into corium. Once cooled down (takes decades) it's still extremely dangerous and radioactive. In short, whether or not a material is radioactive is independent from the state of matter. Gas can be radioactive too, like radon gas

Dear Team of Kreosan, Since you give so much of your souls to this abandoned city, I want to help a bit and suggest some actions, that may help you later on, but first: Have you considered to take the more legal route to the Zone? You could get a pass and on example carry stocks of food and water, while with an illegal entrance you would have to carry only more questionable equipment? Unless since authorities watch your videos you could have trouble by legally entering, then this gets a bit complicated. So now my advice: 1) If it's possible, try to bury some stuff (like food or materials) in cold spots regarding radiation with the help of a cheap sapper shovel you could carry over the border. Then since after digging in radioactive soil it wouldn't be smart to take it back try hiding it on example under a balcony or behind a piece of furniture. This way you won't have to spend more money for the same thing that Pripyat delivery gives you. 2) I don't know about the sense of this one, but would cutting down vegetation from uncomfortable and dumb places and treating with herbicydes has any sense? I don't know if it classifies as a destruction or cleaning the mess. 3) If you plan on renovating some more flats, I'd suggest hiding in a total wilderness some furniture, that you'd plan on using. Greetings from Poland.
