This was a fantastic trip to camp and rockhound one of the most beautiful spots I've ever camped before! The target for this trip was Michigan's state stone, the Petoskey stone. I especially wanted to find some good pieces for polishing as I learn more about working with stones/lapidary. We had a great time here exploring and combing the beaches and exploring all the trails near the lake. This is my first video where I went out camping to find stuff. If you like that sort of thing and enjoyed this video, make sure to let me know, hit that thumbs up button and subscribe!

Something you may find here in Ohio, which I have not seen you look for yet, is our state fossil the Trilobite. The Flexicalemene variety is pretty common, as well as Gastropods, Brachiopods, Horned, and Spiny Corals. All the best to you!

Born and raised along the West Coast of MI, and sailed Lake Michigan pretty much my entire life. Raced in many sailboat regattas in the 90's throughout the '10's. Delivering the boat to whatever port the regattas were based was one of my favorite things to do. We usually delivered at night, especially if we had to cross the lake to get where we needed to be. Being in the middle of Lake Michigan on a starry summer's night and a cresent moon was incredible. We'd see a handful of shooting stars every time, and occasionally get a peek at the Northern Lights as well. Miss those times!

The best reasons to go camping? The company, the food, the campfire, and the alcohol! I love watching you guys, your enthusiasm for the hunt is contagious, inspiring me to get back home from camping (Just a joke - we have no house, just a caravan) and we now have 6 weeks before we take off on our own adventure around Australia! I love the photography, you can't do much better than moonsets and reflections, especially the Milky Way reflecting off the water! Kudos on the Petoskey Stone finds - that UV-light paid off big time, and Bri's last find certainly topped the list for the weekend. I'd LOVE to see more camping trips as the videos are a bit longer because you pack more time into them! Okay, you two, keep it safe and I'll see you in the next one. Cheers!

We call them Pie Iron Pizzas, or Pie Iron Cherry Pie, Pie Iron Grilled Cheese (so good with some tomato soup, as evening temperatures drop!), etc. When I was a kid, & also at the camp I worked at as a young adult, everyone called the devices you cook them in “pie irons,” as they are made of iron and you make different kinds of little pies inside two pieces of bread. Even a PBJ is excellent inside of these! We made breakfast sandwiches a couple of years, & it’s so much fun to experiment!! One time we made French toast and had some left over. So at the next meal, we used the French toast instead of regular bread in the pie irons. We added wild raspberries we had picked, along with some maple syrup on the insides. Wow those were tasty! When we make the pizza, we usually like to add one other topping besides sauce & cheese, such as turkey pepperoni, olives, mushrooms etc. Next time we’re going to try some wonton wrappers, and see if we can put Eggroll filling and Crab Rangoon filling in them, over the fire! Enjoy! 🌲🔥🏕🛶🌅🌲

You guys should go camping more often and take us along for the ride. Gorgeous Petoskey stones, too. If you could, would you explain WHY these things phosphoresce? I've always wondered. Obviously, I could look it up, but it'd be fun to hear you 'splain it to us (especially since some of the other fossils / crystals you find are also phosphorescent).

the bugs in northern Michigan can be tough in June...better time to enjoy the outdoors is in Late July as the bugs/fly's/skeeters take a break...anywhere along the tip of the lower peninsula is good for ancient sea fossil hunting...I like the large inland lakes up there such as Black Lake, Burt Lake and Mullet Lake for roaming the shore lines around the State Campgrounds that have improved showers/bathrooms...the U.S. Forest Parks are usually "Rustic" campgrounds with out showers and having vaulted ceiling toilets...you where just minutes from the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge, which is an awesome site did you see it?
