Wow what a fun day. Lots of ups and downs. It all makes for great memories. I hope you really put the screwdriver to that rod holder or removed the mount and wrapped the rail with fabric tape before reinstalling it. That was a close one.

I've learned from some of your other vids to always swing the downriggers forward or back to get them out of the way. Lost a 30lb by NOT doing this. Buddy system and communication.
@fishhunt98742 жыл бұрын
Definitely better to auto raise the downrigger, swing it out of the way and get the ball to the surface or out of the water and hanging on the hanger of the boom that comes on the Scottys 👍🏼

I can’t believe you lost that fish at the beginning. How anyone can try to net a fish tail first is beyond me. They swim forward not backwards. Glad that face injury wasn’t worse. What a grab on the rod WOW!

That was a complete shit show. From not knowing how to net a salmon to not bringing in gear when there's a fish on to almost losing a fish overboard trying to take a photo while it is barely hooked to a bass scale. About how it happens on my boat sometimes....lmao 🤣

yeah it was a little hectic. I am sure the swells and wind contributed to that. First time on the boat and all of us fishing together. The next video you wont have that issue! Thanks for watching
@pallasxo82222 жыл бұрын
Same thing happened to me 15 years ago, with a big Chinook at the boat, and the idiot with the net tried to net the damn fish tail first. " Fish Gone #@%$&^!" Since then, I always NET MY OWN FISH. A 25 lb. Chinook salmon is worth over $1000. While I net a fish all other rods and all down rigger lines are totally out of the water and tucked away or beside the boat out of the way. Motor running SLOW or in neutral. Then, I PRESENT the fish into the net, head first.

@gregweller4162 жыл бұрын
Tough lesson there losing that big one. Always try to get that non-working gear out of the water when you have a fish (especially a big one) on and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS net from the head first. They can’t swim out if their face is already in the bag. Lesson learned. Better luck next time.
