This proves the importance of preventive maintenance. Many would never see this problem until a catastrophic failure occurred. Very informative video 👏

I like the way you come to your own conclusion or hypothesis, then verify with experts to confirm your thoughts. It always beats shooting the "Parts Cannon" at problems. Great job.

You always teach us what's a problem and what caused the problem. Then You give us a solving problem. Great Master! Thanks

Thanks, another great video. It definitely illustrates the cascading effect of out of spec parts. Have a safe hurricane season.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, It just surprises me that I couldn't feel anything earlier and catch the issue before it caused damage.

Thank you for your question. I'll see what I can do. My system is good now, but maybe I can figure something out.

Very good explanation. Thanks for sharing the cost of the transmission. I don't think its that bad. Can you explain how the motor mounts would cause this failure? Everything seems to lineup properly when you pulled the shaft back.

Thank you for your question. at rest the engine is straight in alignment, but when you put it in gear, if the front right mount is worn, it will allow the engine to shift under load, changing the alignment. The motor mounts take all the load from the prop pushing the boat. Thats a lot of force.

I never though of that about the motor mounts holding the load. Good explanation, and it makes sense that under load the alignment would be out. It is all making sense now why I often see motor mounts being changed. @@boatersdivingguide

Hi guys. Great video Can you tell me where your purchased your replacement Velvet Drive from?
@boatersdivingguide Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. You will see in an upcoming video that I have decided to rebuild the reduction drive myself. This is mostly due to the people at Hales Marine, who I was going to buy the Velvet Drive, but they said I was super safe, just rebuilding the reduction gear. They seem like great people.

How many hours did you get out of that transmission?
@boatersdivingguide Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. 2640 hours on the Velvet Drive. I am sure it would have laster a long time if this issue didn't come up.
