Watamu means sweet why it's because of the beaches, nightlife close proximity to little italia (malindi), the reasons why there are many Italians in watamu coz of malindi Italians first arrived in the 70s they were engineers and scientist they loved the place more started to come settled and invested in resorts, hotels and restaurants that's in malindi in watamu what attracts Italians is the space, tourism investment opportunities in watamu since malindi is somehow overcrowded (same businesses in one area ie restaurants, bars, resorts)
