This once beautiful home was built sometime in the early to mid 1900s. It was abandoned for an unknown reason many decades ago. The farmland around the home was used to grow fruit such as peaches, plums, grapes, cherries, exe. The orchards have since been cut down and the farm buildings were demolished. I am unsure why this valuable property has been left abandoned in such a nice part of the province.

I lived in this house growing up. There were no other barns or out buildings that were demolished 5-10 years ago. After my family moved out in 2003 migrant workers lived in the house for 2-4 years. it has sat empty since. I have kept an eye on the place over the years. Most of the damage in the house was from people stealing the coper and other valuables, not from "Natural Decay". It is heartbreaking seeing the place in this condition. The property is currently for sale at 3.58 million dollars. Unfortunately just a tiny bit out of my price range.

I've seen a home like that in NS. Two brothers I grew up with inherited the property from their deceased parents, but left the place to rot. Tragically, both brothers died early in their lives due to various health issues. I have no idea who owns the place now. Terrible to see it rotting away, I used to play in the house with the younger brother when I was a child, the grandma made awesome doughnuts for us!

My home is an old farmhouse 135 years old and the barn is still standing. It is 100 years old and I do keep my horses in it and the feed and hay;it is a loving constant remodeling because Things do break. The outside is all wood, but I love this old home the memories that it holds our families before us. I talk to the great grandson of the gentleman who built the home several years ago. He gave me the best compliment said that his grandmother would love the way that I have decorated the inside.

I used to live in that house. Crazy seeing it pop up in my feed and seeing it in that state. We absolutely loved that house and living there. It was left empty roughly 18-22 years ago. The bed that is in the room with the dead cat is still in there because we had to cut the frame on the box spring to get it in, then permanently repair it after i.e., it can’t come out. My friends and I called that room “The getto room” because it had no flooring, just plywood floors. lol. Lots of good memories there…

Since a lot of 'farm cats' live in the barns, and such ? It's possible they couldn't find the cat TO take it with them. I'd think this cat is likely a stray that found its way inside long after they left. Once people started breaking windows, or breaking the wood off the windows - later on - and such, it allowed easy access to the inside for this little cat.

I always find a property like this. The house will be demolished, but sometimes, if it's a decent sized garage or shed, it's left, and the farmer who farms the land around will use it. Always have like a square acre with a house, maybe a little garage or shed surrounded by field.
@allsortsacresfarm
@allsortsacresfarm Ай бұрын
This type of property is most often bought to expand an existing Farm operation. It's not uncommon for the farmers to leave the house as the hassle of tenants is more than in the rents are worth. The value is in the land not in the housing. It looks like the land is still being actively farmed. Too bad about the cat. It was probably old and/or injured and sought out a dry area to die. At least I hope so. Poor Kitty 😔

Nah. Additions like that that were only connected on the main floor were not uncommon. There was one I explored that had two additions on the back, one connected to the original house upstairs and down, the second only connected on the main floor with a second staircase to the upper floor. My guess is they didn't want to connect through a bedroom upstairs.

That was my first thought. The 1910s farmhouse I grew up in was moved in the '50s, either when they put in state route 49 or I-70 (they took part of the farm for both). It was set on a new cinder block foundation at the opposite end of the farm about two miles from where it originally stood. Another clue is the steel I beams in the basement under the floor joists, supported with the "temporary" floor jacks. They use those beams to move houses. Our house didn't have the I beams anymore, but it had the same jacks set under the center beam after they moved it to support/level the main floor after it was moved.

There are many reasons why people abandoned their homes, not talking about this house!, but many old people who are sick and needed to live in a nursing home or live with someone who will take care of them, or someone lose his wife or her husband, and don't want to live there anymore, or they wanted to leave and just wanted to lock up the house, maybe too many bad memories, or the owners died, and no one in the family wants the house! so it's many reasons why houses are abandoned!

You don’t know if anyone’s been down the basement stairs in decades yet you trot down them at a totally normal speed without a pause to check if they’re safe or not. You could’ve plunged through a busted step and busted a leg.

Cat could be a recent stray or older because basically it was decomposed then mummified

I think it might be a stray cat that got in there because maybe it was sick and died it there. Poor kitty.

Stachibotrous mold(killer mold). That's just one reason you should never enter dwellings that have been abandoned for a long time. METH Made in house is another DEADLY reason.

House was boarded up because it is haunted. That's why that green chair is all that's in the house.......Why? The family left it there for their dead lived one.

Must be a lot of acreage for it to be that costly. House doesn't look like it's worth $2.
