You scrumptious f**ers! ! You have absolutely lit a fire for me to experience the PNW! I've rooted and snorted around the Canadian Rockies my whole life, and have had the privilege of exploring many a forest all over the globe; but now, the PNW is at the top of my hit-list! Thank you for all your efforts in providing us this exceptional channel! xxo~ Trish

Putting a little something on the memorial was meaningful for me at least. Many many years ago a group of us went on a canoe trip in Algonquin Park in Ontario, Canada. We decided to camp half way between lakes on a portage, by a waterfall. My brother found an old grave maker made from some kind of plank wood. My brother and I picked some nearby wild flowers and laid them by the marker. The guys with us teased us about it. The next day we were caught crossing Grand Lake in a pretty good storm. I couldn't tell you where we got the energy from but my brother and I powered through the white caps and crossed the lake. The other two canoes hunkered down on an island until the storm passed. We teased those guys, saying the spirit of whoever was buried by waterfall helped us cross the lake. We did thank the spirit when we got across, before the other made it. Much later that year we were telling our grandfather about our trip. He told us he had worked as a logger in that area in the early 1900's. He told us a friend of his had died on a portage somewhere around there. He said it seemed to him there was a waterfall close by. He said they made a grave maker from the boards in the man's backpack. Was it the same place? The same grave? No way to tell. My grandfather was quite old by that time. Ten or fifteen years earlier and he would have insisted on us taking him there. My grandfather couldn't remember the man's name, there were workmates and we couldn't make out a name on the maker. I kind of hope they are the same person.

Wow. What an amazing story! Thank you so much for sharing that. I wonder how many people died in that area, near a waterfall, with a DIY marker made from planks? Pretty unreal coincidence if it wasn't that guy. The world is a strange place sometimes. I love to think the spirit of the guy you honoured helped you across the lake. I also hope they are the same person 🙂 💛

Stunning magical forest! I was intrigued by the grunting sounds you guys were hearing. Looked it up and found there is quite the wild hog problem around those parts and all over the place in the US. I think they are awfully cute but they are invasive and eating everything in sight competing with the natural wildlife in those parts for food resources. Glorious sights and treks around Washington! Thanks for taking us along.

Thanks so much lovely 💕 We don't usually mind but this was a State park - we'd already bought a state-wide state park 'Discover' pass which grants us access to all state parks. This one wanted to charge $20 on top of that and didn't accept the state park pass. So weird and according to some locals we spoke to, frustrating for them too! xx

I can't wait to get back up there again but not in the Summer, too many people. Many years ago we went into Sol Duc Hot Springs and then from there hiked into the forest, I'll never forget how beautiful it was. We spent a day with our cousins at Lake Cushman and loved it. I like that, Sasquatch or elk!? You never know these days what's out there lurking in the dark. The Oregon coast is another beautiful drive, hope you're having a good time driving on it and I hope you can find some places where the dogs can run on the beach. Thanks for our trip through the forest today, your videos never disappoint.👍😊

Hot springs and forest hikes, sounds pretty dreamy!! It was actually Lake Cushman where we decided we didn’t want to pay $20 on top of the $30 we’d already paid for the State Park pass 🙈 Might have been worth it if we could spend the day there in the sunshine. Onto Oregon! Only heard amazing things 😀 xx

Hey Guys, hope you’re well! National Parks can be beautiful and magical! Can’t wait too see them all one day! 4 points of the continent, that’s an amazing achievement 🏆 I love walking on the beech and the sound of the sea 🌊 is so soothing! The drone footage shows how dense the forest 🌳 is! The best thing of a traffic queue is having a Campervan and enjoying it whilst having a nice coffee or tea! Wow, that moss area makes it feel like a lord of the rings scene! It’s looks too wonderful to experience! ❤️..and the white noise of running water makes me love nature so much! And Ben making you jump with the rattling cupboard noise was so funny! All that driftwood would be good for another cast away movie! How interesting to find a painted rock 🪨. The tree of life! That’s so amazing and yeah I’m wondering how it’s still going.. 3 hours instead of 90mins, yeah it happens but at least you got to drive near Aberdeen on your drive round which is a Scottish place. A quiet forest with rain on the way is spooky. The pool is a nice shade of blue 💦. Apple fritter looks nice, I could scoff one right now 😂.. sometimes if you don’t feel a place especially for $20 extra, it’s better to leave it until another time!.. love lasagna too! Anyway, love the map journey drawings, have a good week ahead, thanks guys!! X

Thanks Mark! Yeah the drone is the only way to really try and capture the forest up here. It's so vast you can't really get a sense of it until you're looking at it from above! The pool was really lovely, although I was a little spooked by recent events there 😢 Couldn't believe it was $20 to access the lake! That's like a cinema ticket! AND it was a state park, which we have already paid $30 for a yearly pass for! Madness 😂 Hope you're having a lovely weekend, love from us xx 💕

I just listened to your video again and the grunting sound you hear is the sound from the nighthawk. Unless the sound you heard can’t be heard on the video. Google nighthawk dive sound and let me know what you think. They are neat birds. You’ll likely hear it again on your travels.

Chesca, your lasagna looks amazing. Making me hungry and I'm not even watching a cooking vlog ! Methinks instead of Sasquatch you might have been hearing all sorts of frogs or toads? I never remember the difference between them. The ancient forests and the tree of life were glorious. Happy to be accompanying you . Sending you and Ben and the two four legged poppets my love and hugs. Funnily my aunt called me Poppet my whole childhood but this is the first time I've looked up the term. in addition to be used as endearing it seems as though you Brits also use it as a doll or a puppet. Another great video to kick off the week! it is a bit of a shame you cant let the dogs off the leash on the beeches when they are that damn huge! Didn't know anything about that tree so thats another little gem.

Woop! Yeah I know, seems ridiculous really. But the US really don't like dogs off lead anywhere unless you're in a designated off-leash dog park 😔 Just grateful they were allowed on it at all! 😳 xx

Omg I love Washington cause of this. I’m a truck driver and the first time I drove through here, I just fall in love with the place, the smell of the trees is sooooo amazing. I was not supposed to drive through the park as a truck drive but once I got in there and saw the beauty, I couldn’t turn around, I went all the way through and I loved every part of it. From Dallas and I just wanna live in Washington now. Loved your vid btw ❤

Beware of Sasquatch out there. There are old things in those woods. Thousands of acres where no man has ever stepped foot. You get a certain "feeling" in those woods that you don't get in other forests.

We felt nothing strange in most of Washington, but that last forest we were in, where we went swimming, that had a very strange feeling we haven't experienced elsewhere. Very quiet, very eerie, very strange.

Omg! 😂 That small clip at the very start of the video of the top of Ben’s head with the pitch black background of the forest. I’d looked away from the tv for a second, heard Chesca say “this is why we don’t like coming to national parks”. Looked back to see what I thought for a second or two was a close up of an 👽. I froze for split second and till the “normal” part of my brain told the rest of it, no that was just Ben you tw*t 😂

Someone else may have already suggested this, but I believe that your "insects" making the chirping night noises are actually tree frogs ( we call them "peepers" in Nova Scotia)

I've always been envious of the USA's attitude to dogs . since COVID the UK is massively over populated with irresponsible dog owners . Businesses have been forced to become dog friendly in order to compete so its hard to find a cafe without one. As I write this there is a lady who is letting her lap dog lick the food crumbs off the table leaving its slobber on the table for either the next occupant or the unfortunate staff to clean. This isn't unusual because every one thinks their dog is the most adorable thing on the planet and that everyone should love it irrespective of its behaviour. Oh btw I have had dogs & love dogs but do not expect them to be welcome everywhere or be universally liked by everyone.

Also, I imagine you’ve never been to the US? Their dog approach is not what you think. It’s really easy to get your dog registered as a service dog so you’ll see dogs in the shops, even in shopping trolleys, yep, right where you put your fresh food. They’re allowed most restaurants and on most flights in the cabin. The UK is one of the only countries in the world that doesn’t allow dogs in the cabin, even service dogs. So you might not want to envy the US too much 🙂

@@OverlandingSophia yep I travelled around in a camper for a year visiting the National Parks and vacationing there for over 20 years notching up around 30 states . I do like dogs but here they seem to have permeated every inch of land irrespective of whether wildlife or other people enjoy their company . I live by the sea but most owners ignore the restrictions if they think they won’t be caught ( early mornings and evenings etc). The dog fighting is terrible and injuries by dogs off the charts . None of which is the fault of the dog . So I guess for me the idea that dogs are restricted in national parks ,I should think for a variety of reasons , seems refreshing. Perhaps one could argue the same about humans too !! In any event , I hope you continue to all have an amazing time and safe travels .

That friendly bird you saw at kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZezfIWGhN2agqc was a Canada Jay. They are part of the corvid group of birds along with crows, ravens and blue jays. Highly intelligent.
