seiko quintessential is the turtle, (or maybe skx, it's more popular brother). turtle is perhaps the ultimate tool watch, cheap, great movement. fits on any wrist. it's different enough from a submariner and the submariners many clones, with a classic and unique case design. some interesting kanji and roman numeral date wheels, and color designs. turtle is an absolute S for me.

Great video !😂😂. I loved the Rolex bit.. but my own experience is they should be a D simply because you cannot buy one when you walk into an AD. I experienced that here in Singapore and when I was in Barcelona. I walked across to the Omega AD and got a wonderful Omega Speedy 57 for my son's wedding. For giving me the watch I chose, and with such variety and quality of design and build, Omega should be an easy A.

@picanha694 I have no doubt that if you bought several watches you were not intending to acquire from them first, you can then get a chance for a Rolex from THG, if you have a bottomless pit of money to draw from. However how do you explain such behavior from a Rolex only shop? What do you buy first to attain a purchase history with them? Anyway they shoot themselves in the foot, I've lost interest in Rolex.

Great video. Interesting debate. I agree with - almost - all your choices, including the more controversial choices of Richard Mille (D), way too pricey/don't get it - I agree with you, and Tudor (C) I know lots of people love them but i find them dull/unoriginal - I agree with you. My only (subjective) dis-agreements and challenges are 1/ Nomos should be B, not A. Not enough of a diverse range to be above Longines...or Oris for that matter. Maybe Nomos at A is brand familiarity bias?! (i loved your video ad with them), 2/ Zenith at A. Should be B. Notwithstanding their movements, not enough of a diverse range to warrant being above AP that is truly iconic, and 3/ Casio should be B not A. They're now just dishing out variations on an existing theme (different colour, etc) rather than anything game-changing. You could argue Grand Seiko have been more innovative in 2022. Lastly - real shame to miss out Vacheron Constantin in particular given the Overseas (and 222). Would have been interested to learn your perspectives on Breguet, Cartier, Panerai, and Piaget too. Look forward to Pt2 given the cliff-hanger ending 🙂

However, I have several bones to pick with this video. So, please take or leave my comments as you see fit. 1. There are a lot of watch tier list videos, but as far as I know, none rank these brands and their products from a vintage perspective. Since you are specialists in this area, I think this would be the most exciting and valuable tier list you could make. Would you consider making another video where you would rank the brands from a vintage perspective? I would love to see that. 2. There are soooo many good brands left off this list! Cartier, Vacheron, A. Lange & Söhne, and all the great independent watch brands? For Cartier alone, I could rattle off a list of reasons why they should be on the list: Cartier outperformed many other watch brands last year, they arguably made the first sports watch and pilot's watch ever, numerous prominent figures wear their watches, they are Christian's favorite watch brand. Navitimer 41 has to be worth alone a B for Breitling given the aesthetics, the movement and the price, beside they have in catalogue one of the most accurate quartz in luxury watch brands with the Endurance pro, that's a bit pricey to be a quartz and it's definitely out there with the design, but it has a superquartz movement with +/-0.07 secs per day

“You are what you do”. On the bottom of all your videos, your banner names three brands out of the many you sell: Rolex, Omega and Tudor. Those three occupy that “downtown Tokyo real estate”. Those are in your “A” list at least by insinuation. Asides: all Nomos watches look alike. They remind me of Bachman-Turner Overdrive music - same four chords, brand new song. Grand Seiko will always be dragged down by having your “D” tier Seiko on the dial. Unfair perhaps, but Seiko made the choice to do that. Plus, they further commingle by putting spring drive movements in high end Seiko watches…? Love the fade to black at the end!

Such a great call with NOMOS. They do need a more crowd pleasing hit, but I gotta say, my Club Sport 42 in Blue (on the new oyster style bracelet) has ruined me. On my wrist all day, everyday. @@craigriley9892 bracelet and watch both super comfortable. You have to have the wrist for the 42mm (I have a flat 7”) but otherwise I have zero complaints. If you do have a smaller wrist, the new 39 Sport models are out, same bracelet. No date, but otherwise fantastic. Good luck!

I agree with Michael about Moser. I feel that their designs get a pass because of all of the hype that they received. If you saw the same design in another, cheaper, watch brand, it would not get the same pass that Moser gets. Just my opinion obviously.

Cut off Rolex!! 😂I agree that IWC is doing well. My only issue is they have this great Ingenieur integrated bracelet heritage that they could modernize in a reissue and yet we have nothing. It's probably too late now, maybe. The current Ingenieur line is nice, but uninspired. Other than that, there's a lot to like. If they did that, I'd give them an A. Tudor needs to step things up, even though I like quite a few of their models. I would have given them a C. The Pelagos 39 was a solid hit, but they need to do more. Where I have to disagree the most is giving Nomos an A.. While they have had a couple of nice releases lately, the majority seem to be just colorways. That's all I seem to get out of them in the last 4 or so years I've known of them. As you said, they need another great watch, and there isn't a Nomos for everybody. I would give them a B, with the solid hit of the Club Sport in 37 and 42 (sure would love a 39 though). Moser is an easy B for me, maybe an A. I would have said C a few years ago, but they've had some great releases lately. Breitling is definitely on an upward trajectory with some solid people at the wheel that really seem to know what they're doing. They're not perfect, but I like their direction. Previously, they were just seen as an old man's blingy watch. B seems right. I'd go B+ if I could. I agree on Oris getting a B, but they definitely have some areas to improve. I think they've been reaching up on price a bit much too quickly in the last few years though. The prices on the used market for their new Caliber 400 models reflect that. Omega is definitely a B. They've got some great stuff, but are not reaching their potential. They still seem to know what they're doing, and that new Speedmaster Super Racing movement is spectacular. They're taking baby steps, but we'll see what their other big releases are this year. JLC deserves a D, because they're just not being managed well. They have a lot more potential. They're too reliant on the Reverso. My wife saw their rose gold Polaris perpetual calendar and said that's a F*$#king ugly watch. Impressive, yes. Beautiful? Not really. I think Longines has come up quite a bit in the last few years. I don't think the Spirit is that derivative, especially compared to what else is out there. The Spirit line is also being expanded continually with nice watches I'd be happy to own. I would level that complaint against the Conquest though. It's basically a hyper water resistant Explorer with a 12 and 6 dial. That's an older release though. You are right with the heritage type releases being some of their best, but the fact that they have them is a credit to Longines in recognizing classics as classics. They're trending in the right direction. Grand Seiko I would give a B as well. They almost have too many models and while they have great cases, movements, and dials, the bracelets aren't quite there in most cases. The quality and finishing is great, but they have so few with even the basics of micro adjust, let alone any type of quick adjust that brands like Rolex already have or brands like Omega and Tudor are adding more of to their line. They do need more staple watches they're known for as well. They also have pushed up in price quicker than I think the brand name justifies. I showed a watch I liked to my wife and she liked it, but when she found out what it cost ($8,600), she said why not just get a Rolex at that point (availability aside)? She had a great point. I loved the Night Birch on wrist, but there's a lot of competition at $10,400 and there's no micro adjust. Come on, GS!
