I like the olive green better than your versions, honestly. A white version could work, but then I think you'd have to get better supporting colour; like switching out the windows and roof with sand green, that might look very nice. Maybe even switching out the bottom dark tan sections for a light gray then. One thing I've changed about my own version is the removal of the white and gray line by swapping those plates and tiles with olive green.

I remember thinking when I first saw this that these recolours would look nice, but after building the original model and seeing these recolours, the original colour actually looks by far the best. I think the olive green with the white pillars really allows the pillars to pop so much more

I think that is a good summary statement! We felt the same! After building the set as is and recoloring the set, we agree that the original olive green is actually pretty great!

The more I see recolors the more I appreciate the original design. I haven't found an alternate color that I feel suits out better.

Same here. I think that as a stand alone it might work, but together with the others, the other options are not better. And even as a stand alone, you need sone destinction for the pilars to pop etc.

Thank you so much for doing this! This has helped me warm up to the original color more than I expected. If I decide to make modifications to mine, I may consider trying some of the other suggestions in the comments such as replacing the white and gray stripe between floors with olive green and making the window trim white instead of tan.

Great video. Tan would have been the colour that I would have thought looked best but you've shown that the building gets lost next to the more recent modulars so I'm not surprised the designers opted to go for a different colour. Your all white version looks striking but the white parts of the cherry blossom tree blend in. The subdued olive green of the original just seems to balance all the colours of the facade well. I think this video help sells why the designers opted for that colour.

Thanks for doing this. Ever since the olive green facade was announced on the new modular building, I was collecting together tan bricks, ready to do a re-color. After now building the stock version, the olive green has grown on me a lot, and I still haven't decided if I'm going thru with the recolor, but seeing your version has really helped. It is interesting how all of the other colors chosen for different parts of the set were chosen to work with the olive green, so I can now see that it isn't just one set of bricks that need to change color to make it look really good.

Less olive green in a city is admirable buuuuuuuut all your primary white versions really detract from the model as a whole, particularly from the columns which feels life a definitive feature. I think the next step I would take if I really needed the building in white would be to make the columns in light tan or dark tan. As someone only starting out their modular street without plans to make a city (currently have the hotel, bookshop, 3-in-1noodleshop, and B-build of Cozy House), the Museum is maybe a spring 2025 purchase since I need to get other stuff first (like the Family Reunion set and Jazz Club, maybe even MOC a standalone lavender doughnut shop) :) Appreciate the work that went in regardless!

The only thing I would change from the original is to replace the tan around the windows with white to give more contrast and consistency.

i liked the different options, not such a great fan of the pure white because the pillars are one of my favorite features here and they blend in too much, but I am also a purist and it would bug me if I tried to change it and leave it different. LOL great videos - keep them coming!

The all white looks amazing. I would even color the bottom foundation white as well. Very stately. However, I would keep mine olive green as well. I think I will buy two sets, and make one all white, trying to get into a mansion. Removing all museum items and replacing it with interior walls and furniture. I will buy the museum and turn it into a mansion. With an attached garage. I make it all white. But I will also buy a second museum and keep it green as well.

Great upload, as usual! I like your focus on creativity and positivity, and this was an interesting visual experiment. Your point about Lego purism is interesting. For many kids, part of the inherent fun of Lego is building a set, tearing it down, and then altering it or creating fresh MOCs, whereas for many adult fans, a set is treated like a sacrosanct object to be built once and placed on a shelf, leaving any freedom and creativity behind. It becomes more like a scale model than a freeform creativity tool. There's probably a metaphor in there for growing up! (And yes, I know there are also plenty of adult MOC builders who view Lego sets primarily as sources for parts.)

I think in many ways it comes to money. If I had lots of money, I would treat LEGO more often like kids do: as a toy. This is why I believe children have no problem with disassembling expensive sets. They do not know the value of money. As an adult, I know that if I break a set, i'm not getting a new one.

Quite true. I'm paying for Lego with my own hard-earned money, and it ain't cheap! I know, too, that if sets remain in complete, mint condition, I can always resell them later if I want, usually at a profit. So, I too am disinclined to alter a set in any way.@@paweborkowski6959

I really like the all white with the tan siding on the bottom, looks very clean and nice. The thing is, I think most people's extra parts are in white, I've been collecting extra parts for about a year and I have far more white than any other so that seems to be the most affordable option

Great video. I just started the museum the other day, which might have been a mistake because the downtown and residential areas of my city are getting prepared to be rebuilt to fit more lego and the side of the city that we did last year is mostly full already with the modulars I have both mocs and ofical ones. I am still waiting on that post office modular from lego that's what I want if next year is to be a corner one.

I'd probably do lbg maintaining white for some details; so much white looks off to me. But then again I don't have this modular nor probably enough lbg pieces to do the color swap 😂

Please redo the downtown diner, removing all the plasticky day-glo elements and making it into a true pre-war building like all the others in the modular line. The diner is the bastard child of the modulars (along with that awdul second modular whose name i won't mention).
