Craig, big difference between the pontiac and the others. This is a Holden Monaro, built in Australia. Independant rear suspension etc. They are pretty good, well built cars. I do agree about the Hummer, someone has screwed with it probably not knowing how to drive them. I am interested to see what they claim is wrong with it.

I liked how you tipped auctioneer. I do a ton of auctions and always top the fork lift driver. Always. usually 10-20 bucks depending on how much I get. The guys have always shows my loads respect, get to me first and have even helped me secure the loads. It's amazing how much someone can turn from just a "employee" where you do business to something close to a friend. Just for showing them a little respect and kindness. It works on me also. When a customer does not give me absurd offers, nit pick etc, I always cut them a break. Also something else i have learned. EVERYONE, every single individual selling a car on marketplace, is a lier. So as a buyer it takes me so much longer doing a deal because i have to make THEM wait while I do my due diligence because I know they are lieing about some details.

It's good to have a plan B when the online auction is not beneficial. Good to learn that. I believe the disclosure of bids is not useful when it is below the asking price and useful when it is above. I would say the stressful part of selling at dealer auction is the deadline. Because it puts pressure on the seller. (The buyer can always retract without fees)

Flying Wheels did not mention *any issue(s)* that were discovered with this Hummer. If you’re buying auction vehicles, would it be reasonable to *expect* there to be some obvious and/or hidden reasons the vehicle turned-up at the auction in the first place?

Great video. Curious to hear what the new Hummer owner finds but also, kudos on going the extra mile. On the Cars and Bids stuff, their thoroughness is great but being that slow may eventually put them out of business. Every time I go to their site, I feel like the number of active auctions is fairly low. In regards to keeping history on auctions, I think there is some relevance to that, although buyers have to understand that prices/demand fluctuates often... especially on rare stuff. Dealing with ignorant people and low ballers is just part of it.

The nice thing about auctions is that they show what people are *actually* willing to pay. And not only that, they show the *highest* people are willing to pay. You can say it's worth 54k all day long. But don't get upset when the market doesn't agree with you. Padding values with inaccurate information while expecting other places to hide accurate information is a big reason car dealers are difficult to distinguish from a sinking pile of excrement.
@steveherr450 Жыл бұрын
If it is at the auction lot yet then it happened when the lot attendant parked it up until the new owner went to drive it off. Jumping to conclusion did the lot attendant put the emergency brake on and the new owner didn't notice and that is why it won't go into drive? Hopefully it is something stupid like that. Do these have electronic solenoids in them that year? Someone screwing with it hoping it is still there the next week and it gets resold cheaper? So many things can go thru your head in these situations. Great you are willing to help them out. we had to rescue a buyer of one of our vehicles years ago that stopped 45 minutes away. couldn't get the vehicle to turn over. we get there and realized he never push the engine stop button back in ( commercial vehicle). Pushed it in and it started fine. We had so many theories running thru our heads we never thought it would be something so simple. We all had the worse case scenario in our head, thinking what happened that it seized the engine so fast ?

@common_c3nts Жыл бұрын
It does not make sense to permanently show bids for a car that did not sell. If the auction did not get the visibility to meet their own appraised value and reserve then they should not list the bids. They can keep it up but they should only list the reserve number and say bidding did not hit the reserve. There is no point in a reserve if they are going to show the whole world that the highest bid was significantly less which then will devalue the car when trying to sell it in the future. There are a million reasons why they did not get at least 2 of the right bidders to bring the price up to meet reserve.
