Everybody probably knows this but Hoskins greatly regretted working on the Super Mario Bros. film, frequently calling it the worst work he had done. His frustration with the filming led to him frequently drinking alcohol on set and playing various scenes while drunk; Hoskins broke his finger during filming when John Leguizamo's drunk driving led to Hoskins slamming his finger on the sliding door of the Mario Brothers Plumbing van and apparently Hoskins was not aware the Super Mario Bros. film was based on a video game until months into filming. John Leguizamo took this instead of Philadelphia which instead had Tom Hanks and Dennis Hopper regretted this film and he only did it because he said and I quote from him and his six-year-old son, Hopper replied to him by saying, “‘Well Henry, I did that so you could have shoes,’” before his son hilariously quipped back, “Dad, I don’t need shoes that badly”. Imagine doing all this just to see that 30 years later Disney (Buena Vista associated with the 1993 film) can’t do what Illumination did

The fact that one movie had so much drama that everyone involved is too embarrassed to talk about their time on the film is insane. All the actors were drunk while filming (like actually taking tequila shots in between scenes), everyone was fed up with all of the script changes that would happen THE DAY OF filming scenes, and people almost died from heat strokes because they filmed all of this in an abandoned industrial plant in North Carolina in the middle of the summer with no AC.
