Today we had to change out the water pump on the 2014 Chevy Cruze 1.8L. My oldest was working with me on this chilly day. It got just above freezing, but not for long. We are not mechanics nor professionals at repairing cars. This is just us sharing our journey with you and what we experienced along the way. If it helps you... great! Please like and subscribe if you haven't yet. We appreciate you!!

I always dislike hearing new noises and sounds pop up.. because then I have to track them down and figure them out.

@@rtwego Given the history of these year/model vehicles I first thought it may have been my water pump going out. That impeller can break inside. Car has 87K miles. Had CARFAX report, never mentioned an issue with cooling system but you can't really trust those reports too much. Carfax reports may not include details or background, or information about the current condition of the car. Most Carfax reports don't provide a full explanation of the vehicle's accidents or the condition of the vehicle after the accident. Not every repair shop reports to Carfax, so some maintenance records may be missing. Some reports say that incorrect information from Carfax has cost buyers thousands of dollars. Now CARFAX does have a Buyback Guarantee. This protects consumers from unknowingly buying a vehicle with a DMV-issued title brand, such as salvage, junk, rebuilt, fire, flood, hail, lemon/manufacturer buyback, not actual mileage, or exceeds mechanical limits. If the CARFAX Report fails to include a DMV-issued branded title, CARFAX may buy the vehicle back for the full purchase price. Even if this were true, I would want to do a through check through other sources to be on the safe side.

I basically check carfax for accident related stuff. Maintenance - those records are always iffy because someone like myself may have tinkered with it, etc. etc. So I usually resort to the glove box or trunk for further documentation on mechanical repairs. LOL. We tend to stuff receipts there and forget about them.

Always use torque wrench and tighten it in proper way. Good job anyway!

Yeah.. I know.. but I used the click in my elbow to monitor it. LOL.. I don't have one. I'm not a mechanic.. just trying to save a buck doing it myself. It's still holding.

Thats amazing! I'm deaf and I own business as mobile mechanic in az. I have been thought about doing KZbin, and here I come across this video that makes me think I can do it too. Any advice of how you doing the edit caption? Or any other tips? Please thank you! Again great video

If it is something you want to do, go for it! I type my own captions because I hate the auto-caption. They are usually so wrong. And if you're signing, it won't caption you. You will need to type your own. I would suggest having someone be a camera operator for you, so you can get a good angle on the shot of work and see you signing. Or, another option is to just type the caption of what you want to say on the video, even if you're not in the shot. The instructions or comments would be on the screen. I think it's great that you're interested! And it's a narrow niche... not a lot of sign language mechanics out there. You will need to find the video editing software that works for you... or have someone edit the video for you. There are many programs out there. Personally, I use Shotcut. It's free and it's easy to edit and use the basics. The longest part of my process is actually typing the captions. That's why some of my videos I don't say much LOL. Or I sign and speak at the same time so I don't have to type. Best of luck!! I hope to see your channel up some day!

I was thinking a bit more... if you're a professional mechanic making an instructional video, you shouldn't have a ton of captioning to type out. I caption the whole conversations between myself and my son because we are just sharing our experience, not teaching or instructing. So that could be a LOT easier for you. Just a thought. And I'm assuming you would type out captions for your signed portion so non-signing people can understand.

@@rtwego thank you for your advice. I'm so appreciative of your effort to give me your thoughts. I definitely will go for it and try my best . I probably will have to put caption out there with voice while I sign to give out some tips to diagnose the problem. It is more of like instructions video how to diagnose properly with scope and electrical tools.

I hope you got lifetime parts tho there will most likely be knock on wood I literally replaced the thermostat on this turd and 2 months later it's leaking from a sealed area now the water pump has that warranty as well I don't think they were happy cause it was the metal expensive one I got replaced for free

That's one thing I don't like. Once you fix one thing, it seems to react with something else. Good luck with yours!!

My mechanic insisted I change the timing belt and water pump , then once it was there they assessd it was the water pump that was corroded and making the noise. they told me my timing belt still looked new so they only changed the pump only and belt tensioner and drive belt. Now im thinking they needed to change both no matter what. Is this correct? They were really telling me they saved me money that the belt was still new/. I have a chevy sonic 2014. I just feel like they went around somthing, am I wrong?

As I stated in the video, I'm not a mechanic. So, I honestly have no mechanical advice to give. I was just sharing my experience of figuring out how to do this change myself. That would be a question for a certified mechanic.

You replace timing belt and tensioner belt/ pulley when you see code 52 and you hit 90-100k mileage for maintenance or else you’ll end up in the road with broken belt

Nice piece of advice. I clearly state in my videos that I am not a mechanic. I'm just a guy trying to save a buck and figure this out myself. So, yeah... I don't know all the in's and out's. Thanks for the information. Hopefully I won't have to use it LOL

Can you use the same water pump and timing belt on a 2014 1.8L Chevy Cruze LS vs a 2014 1.4L Chevy Cruze LT?
@rtwego
@rtwego Жыл бұрын
That would be a question for your parts store. As stated in the video, I'm not a professional mechanic and am just sharing my experiences as I try to save some money. You should be able to call any of the major parts stores and ask them to compare the parts/models and see if they're a match. Best of luck to you and thanks for watching!!

no,water pumps are differant on the 1.4. The 1.8 has a timing belt where the 1.4 has a chain.
