Hi Matt, my recommendation would be to transplant the drivetrain from the ambulance to the crew cab, while leaving the original interior untouched. Either way, I look forward to seeing another excellent project. Thanks
@MattKubik17913 жыл бұрын
Not sure that would be possible due to the limited space with the factory firewall and floor. Plus the 6.7 needs to see all the modules in the can bus network to run so it needs everything in the dash to work. Plus I would want all the newer amenities on the dash and hvac system for long trips.

Just watched this video. Modern trucks are just so much more user friendly. Old truck so nostalgic and cool. Marrying the two is an overwhelming challenge to keep enough of the old but still make it user friendly. It kind of means you are pioneering new ground here. Lots of people have or are doing what you described because it is the easiest way to marry old and new. I’d love to see the dash and interior remain old, but drive train new. Hoping people will speak up with ideas of how to do just that. Good luck and following this build.

Yeah, cut it up. It will stay worth what ya gave for it, and increase the value of each of the intact ones that remain. Our clients will be happy!

I think the ambulance drivetrain in the crewcab would be awesome !

I think so too! Seems to be the popular opinion.

Might be a bit more to it than the highboy but would make for a good build series!

I’m doing a 6.7 swap on my 1971 crew cab F350 and should start cutting it up after the holidays if you want to check out the videos I’ve made so far on it. Leaving the 6.7 floor and firewall in mine as well.

Only problem I see is that modern interior takes up a lot more room than the original and the old interior didn’t have a lot of room to begin with... Would still be awesome and I wouldn’t worry too much about updating it...

I say if you can, just swap the engine and trans. plus the patina on the outside is really cool.
@MattKubik17913 жыл бұрын
Too much rust to save the patina in my opinion. If someone was very good at matching paint it might be possible!

Well I’m not going to lie, I don’t like diesels in the old trucks but that truck as your tow rig would be pretty freaking cool! It’s up to you, I just want to see the videos!!!

I’m the same I’m not a fan on all the Cummins swapped crew cabs out there. But I would plan to make this one different with the dual 19.5s!

Reminds me of an Icon4x4 video I watched of an old Dodge. They actually bought a brand new Ram 3500 for the donor chassis and drivetrain. Truck ended up phenomenal. It’s probably the best thing you can do for the truck: respecting the art of the truck but giving it new life. I have done the same with my 100 year old house. Why not the same with vehicles?!

I'd say cut it up, surely there will be pieces of the interior or remaining parts someone could use on their build so it's not a waste.

That truck is way to nice to cut up it's a rare and original complete truck you hardly ever see then like that anymore tune it up and clean it up leave it alone .

It would be a cool swap, but I hate seeing such a nice old F350 cut up when there are plenty of ones that are already cut up/rusty. I'd rather see that crewcab put back on the road close to the way it is and find a cut up one. I looked for a couple years for my dent side crewcab to do my swap and it was already cut up so I didn't sacrifice a good original crewcab. But, it's your truck and judging from your other builds the swap would at least be well done.
@MattKubik17913 жыл бұрын
There is quite a bit of rust on this one. She isn’t perfect by any means. Much more rust and I’m. Not sure I would want to deal with it.
@speedandmarine90663 жыл бұрын
@@MattKubik1791 Almost impossible to find rust free crewcabs anymore. If the roof and drip rails are solid then the rest is easy!

What is that switch below the ignition key on the lower dash? I remember my grandpa's truck had that but mine doesn't I cannot remember what it's used for.
@MattKubik17913 жыл бұрын
It’s a switch to change the fuel gauge From the Auxiliary fuel tank to the in cab tank.

Either way i know it'll be a good build an make good vid, content,,!!

Never been a fan of the two vehicle splice method, but why not just swap the drive train into the existing F-350 chassie. I get that method is more work but the end result will be far more impressive, and your not hacking the crap out of a decent rare truck
@MattKubik17913 жыл бұрын
TheShockedboy well several reasons I wouldn’t want to do it that way and both have to do with how I would use the truck. It would take the place of my 2012 f-350 and will tow and haul our truck camper all over the country. Also pull our race trailer when we go to races. So I would want the modern chassis with modern brakes and heavy duty frame and axles that can handle the weight safely. Second would be concerning the dash. The ECU for the 6.7 powerstroke has to have all that there to run.also would want all the modern features for our 13hr plus days on the road. The added safety of the air bags are also a plus. For those reasons If I don’t do the splice it would stay stock.
