I can’t believe it we finally got rid of our snow. It was beautiful 60° and then two days later it drops to 35° and we end up with a snow storm that lasted almost 3 days and we got over 2 feet of snow. And it was a heavy snow that we could barely shovel. It was perfect Snowman building snow, but we refuse to do that. Were so ready for the summer.
The storm took out our power and we had a hook up a generator so we could have water and heat. It doesn’t put power into the whole house so I lost a lot of food in my fridge and it was pretty much dark throughout the whole house. We had two plugs working that were able to use in the living room so we can watch a little bit of TV but everything else had to be unplugged because it would drain the generator.
We also had a generator for the chickens, and at the barn, and my kids rental. After the two days of having everybody home with no school and not able to go anywhere, I thought I was going to lose it. Then finally that night we got power, and I turn every light on in the house because I was so excited to have light. My kids just looked at me like I was crazy because I actually can’t stand my lights been on.
Me and my husband decided to check out what was going on in town and go pick up pizzas for dinner because I could not use my stove. And it was absolutely horrible. Now that the snow is melting is starting to flood are rivers which are flowing over the roads.
We’re supposed to be getting really nice weather this week which I’m super excited to get the snow melted because we are absolutely 100% tired of the winter

Hi Heather, as someone who has never seen snow up close its amazing to see how everything works over there. I live in India, when we have power cuts we have to worry about water the most so it's interesting so see how snow Storm affects that area. Do You also struggle with water or do you store lots of water beforehand. Your content is satisfying to watch. Please do more of these weather and farm related videos. Thank you ❤

Keep a big cooler in the basement. If/when the power goes out, fill it with all the ice in your freezer. If it's cold like it is now, just put the cooler outside.

I live in far S.E. Oklahoma. We tend to get more ice than snow but we can lose power for days. In our last house we had a gas stove and fireplace. We would roast hot dogs in the fire place and then make smores for dessert. I could light my gas stove with a match if the power was out. My mom was once out of power for 2 wks. She got out her cast iron skillet and cooked in the fireplace. I remember her telling me she cooked steaks with mushrooms. If we lose power at our house I cook on the grill. And its a good idea to hook your fridge and deep freezers up to the generator for a couple of hours each and keep rotating them. You can also take your fridge stuff and put them outside in coolers filled with snow. Since we are out in the country we also have a well so no power means no water. We fill up the tub or buckets with water.
@freeinghumanitynow
@freeinghumanitynow 4 ай бұрын
If you have coolers, just fill them with snow and the stuff you need to keep cold and put it outside. With that much snow and cold there's no reason you should lose anything.
