Anna, I love how down-to-earth and (forgive me) non-KZbiny your wedding was! I think so many bloggers and vloggers milk their weddings for content these days, that it's refreshing to have such a big influencer keep hers a lovely surprise! I work for a wedding magazine and definitely feel that people these days are more focused on having that Instagram-worthy day than they are just having a meaningful celebration with their nearest and dearest, so this amazingly chilled day is so inspiring.

Love how simple and intimate the wedding and reception were! I think people sometimes get carried away with weddings and it's almost like a competition to see who can have the biggest and most lavish wedding, which is completely beside the point. Love how personal it was to have the reception in your own home and how you created such a relaxed atmosphere with pizza and pub quiz!

Alex Gaffney I am married and divorced but if I were to ever remarry I would want a very casual, fun, and informal wedding. I would have a summer wedding and wear a Maxie dress with flip flops and have a back yard barbecue at either my parents house or the new in laws house for a reception!!!

I personally think people are allowed to have whatever type of wedding they want ! If it's a huge lavish wedding with 600 guests, 5 dress changes and a smoke machine, a small one in a Pinterest barn, or a city hall wedding with 2 guests... to each their own. As long as there is love and smiles it will all be ok, people can do whatever they want with their special day. I wanted an intimate one but went to some fun enormous Persian and Indian weddings.

I think everyone should have their wedding in which ever way they like so if someone wants a big fancy wedding, go for it! I just feel there is sometimes pressure to have a grand wedding because that's what is expected rather than being what the couple actually wants. That's the point I was trying to make - should have explained it better!

I love how you did you wedding. My husband and I got married in our local town hall with 13 guests- just immediate family. We then flew to Australia for a month the next day and then had a party for 150 people upon our return. Yes, yes and yes! I love hearing about people who do their own thing for a wedding. I got married 2 weeks ago - we got married in a cavern, reception was on a boat with a BBQ buffet for food and Krispy Kreme donuts for our cake! We didn't have a first dance and kept photos simple too. We stayed together the night before as well, it was a last minute decision but I felt like I was so nervous, saying goodbye to my other half would have just pushed me over the edge, I'm so glad we did. This is honestly so refreshing! Love seeing how laid back you are/were about the whole thing! I am being super laid back too and I almost feel like I'm doing something wrong as everyone has this idea that everything has to be perfect and a certain way. Congratulations! Im from New Zealand myself - if you are coming for a honeymoon make sure to go to Queenstown, Arrowtown (just outside of Queenstown) and Millbrook Resort is a really lovely place to stay. Also Waiheke Island is very pretty

Congrats! Love small weddings! We got married at New York City Hall in Sept after 14 years together! 6 of us in total with amazing hotel and food that we could have never afforded on a large scale. It was perfect! We've lived in 5 countries with friends and family all over the world so we cut a VERY hard line and just did what we wanted!

Congratulations to both you and Mark! You make such a lovely couple. I love that you did YOUR wedding YOUR way! I also had a very similar wedding, with 50 people. After attempting to plan a larger one and having panick attacks , because my husband and I hate being the center of attention. We were feeling pressure to do the elaborate wedding, although we knew it wasn't our thing. One day I just looked at him and said, I can't do this with so many people and it's about us. After that everything just fell into place. Best decision ever!

Congrats! Love that you kept it really simple, but still you and "wedding-y"! Funnily enough, saw this video on my last day in New-Zealand. It's an amazing country, and you will have heaps of fun (although 2 months was not enough for me, so good luck to pack everything in 3 weeks!)

I love how stripped back your wedding was. The whole idea of a traditional wedding terrifies me. I find people put on a whole big production for the guest and are concerned about outdoing each other that it takes a way from the whole thing. Really it's two people declaring their love, simple! Plus the thought of everyone staring and me and the pressure of the first dance makes me feel ill. Your wedding sounds right up my street and your dress was gorgeous! Dominos at a wedding, geniussssss!!!!!!

sara cassells --it's funny you say that it's for the guest, because as a guest at those large weddings, I always feel like it's all about the couple (which it should be of course). But I don't enjoy it as a guest at all.

I just love a small wedding and yours seemed lovely! My husband and I eloped then had a reception like dinner two months later with the family. We didn't go on honeymoon right after either and I'm actually happy that we didn't. We are celebrating our one year in less than 2 weeks and decided to save our honeymoon trip till then. Best to the both of you!!

I love how you celebrated becoming Mr and Mrs, so unique and just very "you"! I'm from New Zealand and am so stoked you want to come to our little slice of paradise! Once you get here you won't want to leave i can assure you hehe. I'd recommend seeing a bit of both the North and South Islands.. I live in the North Island, so can recommend going to the Bay of Islands near the top of the North Island (Russel is the main spot but check out all the little bays around there for some serious peace and quiet!), also the Coromandel is beautiful too.
