It’s always fun “hanging out” with you in videos like this. The portion about finding influencers un-relatable, not having a niche, etc resonated. There are a lot of channels or influences I struggle to follow because it feels so far removed from my daily life. Thank you for creating such authentic, laid back, and relatable content!

You are one of the only KZbinrs I still watch. It is so hard these days to find people online who are genuine and trustworthy. Thank you for sticking to what you believe, look forward to carrying on watching into the future!

Aw I absolutely love these chatty videos with you. I've admired you as a home owner and mama. Thank you for being so kind to us and helping us when you can. With friendship, I definitely lost friends when I became a mum. They are always there when the baby is born but never afterwards. That's life, though, and you always should cherish who were there and not dwell on who wasn't.

The curly hair question got me. It doesn’t mean you’re not authentic! Would that mean someone who uses fake tan isn’t authentic because they’re not showing their pale skin? 🤷🏻♀️ I have hair like yours, so I get it. It’s so high maintenance, but also even if it wasn’t and it was purely the fact you didn’t like it curly, that’s enough. You don’t need to give excuses for deciding to style your hair x

Amen!

yeah, im asian and i dye my hair like a light gingery brown, and i feel more like myself and authentic to that. Doesn't mean that i'm playing down my asianess, I just freaking like it and haven't been dark haired for 12 years! So sometimes people have to chill..

I also get the ‘hair trauma’ thing Lily mentioned. I remember being a teenager and straightening my hair with a friend’s straightener. Someone immediately told me I looked nicer with straight hair. Not to mention people think you are more “professional” when your hair is straight. There is real privilege to it. And curly girl method is tough. Might be worth it, but not for everyone.
@justyna5673 Жыл бұрын
I also don't get how it's "your natural hair" when you're supposed to put three different products and follow specific steps to achieve your "natural" curly hair. Your natural hair is the one when you don't do anything to it after washing. Once you apply products and stuff, it's styled, and you either style it curly or straight. So why is curly supposed to be "better" than straight?
@ritadantas Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I've looked at curly routines and curl styling: I could never make it happen timewise unless I woke up at 5am.

Friendships is a really difficult subject for me to hear people talk about. I’m autistic and have always found it difficult to make friends and maintain friendships. I have 4 friends and don’t have that ‘one friend’ that everyone talks about. I just wanted to say this in case anyone else feels the same way ❤

Yes to do much of this Lily. Doing whatever we want with our hair, related childhood trauma, the predictability of straightening hair (I miss that so much but I also knew it was time to stop: when you know, you know), the challenges of growing a small brand, the overwhelm of social media. Really enjoyed this video. Thank you.

Favourite video from you in a while! The main reason I subscribed to you all those years ago is because I love the way you speak on the internet. Very real, relatable and most importantly you just have really interesting things to say. When you chat in videos like this you just sound like you, a real person. I can’t speak for everyone but I am getting a bit fatigued by endlessly being sold white t shirts for £80 or yet another camel coat or “must haves for summer capsules” whatever it might be, so videos like this really cut through all the samey noise. Keep being you Lily, that’s why we’re all here!

Love your content! Don’t worry if you feel like an alien in this industry you are so precious because you are yourself unapologetically, you are wonderful! I have been watching your channel since 2015, and sincerely your content is getting better and better! I love your sincerity and openness, I am also a mom of two, although slightly different from you, as they are twins (they are close in age with Rudy) and I find so much comfort and relaxation watching your videos.

Love your engagement ring, Lily! Me too love having a simple one, mine has just 4 prongs, so squarish look and I love it. U just do you, what you feel most best in, wear in and be in. I had quite a bit of transition of my look this year that just taught me that, you will know it and grow too unhappy even though u r trying your best to be "authentic" or fit in someplace. Just be the best how you can be and give yourself a lot of care and love. Great video! :)

I really love your content - it’s so authentic. I mean this in the nicest way - it’s not all polished and perfect (in terms of the topics/things you say, the production of your content is amazing) - it’s the ups and downs of real life and that’s so valuable and sadly, almost unique when a lot of people only share the perfect version of their lives.

3 kids is such a different dynamic to two! I love it and I always wanted more than 2 - wasn’t as easy actually to get pregnant third time so it really gave me an insight to what some people do go through. I have curly hair and can 100% understand! Everyone gets annoyed with me when I straighten my hair & don’t embrace my curls. I straightened my hair for 30 years and only started wearing it curly during Covid… even then it took Atleast a year to figure out what my hair likes.… it’s soooo high maintenance, you need to have product in it otherwise it goes super frizzy. Once you put it up it’s ruined and you have to wash it, re-do it and dry it… I just get it, it’s a lot people 😆

This video was so lovely Lily 💕! I'm your age and I agreed with absolutely everything you said, even the curly hair part (as I'm naturally curly too), the 3rd baby (as I have 2 brothers and I love having 2 siblings) and the friendship. I have a much smaller following compared to you, but I completely agree with the feeling of not fitting in when it comes to creating content. When I go to events/ see how people play towards the algorithm it makes me feel like I'm just not cut out for it anymore. I've grown a following on TikTok and I just generally love creating content, but creating just for the sake of growth doesn't feel right for me. Still trying to find the balance, but the thought of not creating content doesn't feel right for me, so I know I just need to keep riding the wave for now haha!
