Exactly! Go thru law enforcement, get the kids identified. Then take an estimate of damages (including your time) and the 2 families either cover the cost OR the kids get criminal records for the rest of their lives! Even if the families don’t pay, press charges, kids get sentenced and the judge can order restitution! I’m all for giving kids a break (I raised 2 rowdy boys) but I cannot tolerate needless destruction of property.

Time to make some "wanted" posters old style, create posters with their zoomed in face on the poster and showing them smashing windows, saying have you seen these criminals, please identify them to the police (give the local police number and police incident number not your number), and say that there's $50 reward for information that leads to an arrest (because they're kids the uk police won't arrest them, so you won't need to pay out), but being labelled criminals with their photo's all over the neighbourhood will hopefully embarrass and shame their parents and hopefully jolt their parents into action even if only out of shame.

Empty boats at the side of the canal have always been easy targets unfortunately, Especially in more built up areas. I think you have to move onboard from day one that's what we did, camping stove, mattress on the floor. It motivates you to get finished and cuts down on travel time.😂 The alternative is a secure marina mooring but that just eats away at the budget. I like the boat, it's a great project and will make a fantastic home, best of luck.

My heart goes out to you, I 100% agree with Mr John Miller that 'the parents should pay and that the law of the land that protects kids needs to be trashed immediately'. I am a teacher and confess that so much of the blame for this needs to go to the schools, as well as the home, who have failed to bring up children with the fear of repercussions. The kids' actions are simply evil and the outworking of no discipline. Unless these kids are effectively disciplined for this they will be committing murder for kicks in five years time. I feel so sickened for English society that now protects the criminals and the victims are now the necessary collateral damage that we have to live with. Hello the boy shattered your glass with a tool designed to do it , The glazing can be replaced by carefully prying the glazing beads out using a filler knife the beads will be on the inside of the window ,start on the longest bead and put the blade in the groove between the bead and the frame and lift and push slightly towards the glass . To measure to replacement glazing I measure between the black rubber seals which go against the glass then add 20mm to that measurement meaning the glass will be 10mm either side inside the rebate of the frame , or ask a glazier or a double gazing fitter to help .. I hope the Police give you good news.

Shawn Rhymes here. It bothers me deeply that some kids have very poor up bringing. But it's not just kids these days. Concerning the replacement of the windows, years ago I bought a window for a small shop I built in my backyard, and like your windows it had argon gas in it. Anyway there was a leak in the window and because it was still under warranty, a repair man came to my house and replaced the window on the spot. That was something I didn't expect. My prayer is that those kids get prosecuted and hopefully in the long term, they will be an asset to the community and not the liability they are now. Thanks for posting this video.

You have good images of the two delinquents who are obviously local to the area, so the polce should be able to ID them easily. The move to a more secure area is probably a good idea. Really sick when this type of thing happens. The manufacturer should be able to supply replacement glazing units. I personally wouldn’t fit replacement units until you’re ready to move in etc. I’d probably get marine ply to cover each window, secured inside with wooden batons - easily removed/refitted when you need to. Have a look at Ship Happens, they had similar things happening in the early days of their project. They have a monitoring system in place, something you may want to consider as the channel grows in popularity.

Replace the glass with boards to secure it until you can move the boat. The glass can be replaced, the beading on the inside is removable. It’s unfair for you and your neighbors having to chase off the criminals. A more secure place is needed or it will happen again. I worry that once more stuff is inside they will start a fire . The tape will just be ripped off.

Seen a lot of negative comments about us filming this. We are on the other side of the canal. Lets put this into perspective.... My partner heard banging, I didnt even blink, its a canal full of boats who are working on them. We were watching the Chase. My partner spotted them and I grabbed my phone. They had already done the damage and i wanted evidence. I have chased them off several times now but it takes me 5 mins to get to the other side. Guess what, they cycle off before I can get my hands on them. I've done my best and we are now getting a catapult at our boat. I genuinely dont care and I would do the same again. So think before you cast your negative dispertions on our actions

Yall should get a few wireless security cameras mine are solar powered, use a 5G phone signal, and swivel you can talk thru them to to run off anyone not supposed to be there. Even has a siren. They send motion notifications to your phone. They work well had to use them to monitor gates when i was away to keep poachers off the land. Hope things go better for yall love the channel and seeing yall's progress on your boat.

Its more than past time to get the interior of that boat absolutely secured. Gaffer Tape and plastic is not the way. Get the windows in and keep the little bastards out. even if you have to screw wooden boards over the openings you really must get that boat locked down. ☝🙂 100% That said keep up the good work!

I am soooo sorry you have suffered this. Ive just spent a minute deleting all the badness that I typed over the last 5 minutes such was my anger and ranting. Breathe. And Breathe. Weld on a bolt on each corner of window so can bolt sheet of ply or metal over top, shutters are fairly common on cut for people are not constantly onboard or in the cities.

The glazing beads should be on the interior, pull the beads and install the new units. The original units will be sat on shims so keep the same ones. The supplier will have the measurements and glazing spec. It looks as though the outer pane of glass was tempered by the way the glass shattered. Good luck.

On the brighter side, the boat wasn't finished inside and got all wet. You can make removable, lockable steel covers to put over the windows . Take em off when at boat or make em shutter style

We use camouflaged trail cameras all over out farm. We have caught a few over the years and 100% of the time they have been charged.

The glass comes as sealed units that can be replaced. You can normaly clip the plastic off from the inside.
