Good video and way to give a heads up to the everyone because it happens all over. As to your question “what we think” the one reason I would not have been scammed on this particular one is because it’s bed and especially with a pregnant woman the amount of firmness or softness needs to be right. Nothing worse than having the look you want only for it to be uncomfortable after it arrives, but it could happen to anyone. I just found your channel but I leave the states at least twice a month also waiting on retirement from military. Good job and content for those searching a home and or relationship outside the states .

My brother be cautious in DR🇩🇴, the scamming culture is so big especially when they realize you’re a foreigner from the US 🇺🇸, Canada 🇨🇦, july of this year I was on the beach 🏝️ in boca chica, I ordered 2 fried fishes, french fries and couple presidente for me and my girlfriend, When I got the bill , I was charged almost $300 US, that was ridiculous, my girlfriend who speaks spanish fluently argued with them and they finally brought it down to $150

Hey Jerry and Sheila! I’m sorry to hear of your lost but no worries that scammer will get his. Galatians 6:7 , Colossians 3:15. Me and my wife purchased a bedroom set in Santo Domingo outside of Juan Bosch area. My wife went into the store before making any deposits to verify the sales person, the store and the delivery service that delivered our furniture. We had the opinion to do a deposit , put on credit or pay in full and we chose the latter. Once everything was confirmed I sent her the money to go and purchase and to set up the date for a delivery. I stay on my wife to do a follow up until the day of delivery to make sure they were going to deliver on the date promised. Thank God everything turned out well for us. You have to be really careful because these scammers are no joke. My wife had eyes on them. That guy who scam you all will get his. Mark my word. God bless you two🙏🏿

Honestly, I wouldn’t trust paying for good upfront in any country. Here in the US it doesn’t happen as often as Latin America. But you should see Brazil. They took it to whole other level using square type payment system and bumping into people to tap to pay a large sum. Digital pick pocketing! I learned to turn off my tap to pay over there 😂

What’s up bro. First you don’t have to explain the little frustration you have with the situation and your wife. It’s super normal, it’s a marriage and you and I know marriage is beautiful but not always perfect. You have a good wife, you learned from this. My lesson, NEVER buy anything over the phone, we will Always go to the store, see the product make contact with the salesperson and get the receipt from them. Also it’s better anyway to negotiate in person and maybe got that king size bed for $850-$875 in cash right now. The salesperson ain’t gonna say no 😂I have got caught up to in BS scams, it’s all a learning experience. But I will say one thing. Remember, he who has the money can make the rules and pay what you want to pay. Bro, same thing happened to me and my girlfriend on the north coast. We got scammed for a toddler bed. Sent them the money and they never delivered the bed. My girlfriend found the bed on facebook marketplace. I only pay in person now on the island. My girlfriend was just as heated as your wife. Hey my man, when somebody tell you that the location just asked the person send me your live location right now and then don’t do. It is a scam and never deposit any money in somebody else’s account . I watch the video that you guys posted about the guy that you pay so they can make that room upstairs in your home and then he was asking for more money so he could pay his employees.. I made a comment on it. I am a marine and live in Florida but at the same time on Dominican like I comment in the video don’t trust anybody in DR.. if you go to a fast food restaurant ask for the price first before you eat. My brother went to Boca Chica with his wife right at the beach. He ate a fried fish and they had two beers and the bill was 9000 pesos . My man, I could have a seafood feast in one of the best restaurant in Santo Domingo and is not gonna cost me 9000 pesos.. I might repeat it again. Don’t trust anybody in DR.

My condolences to your cash and time. There is another point to be made, in this situation. Unless you are just scraping by on income, just go to the mall for big purchases. You are in the country's largest city. It is not worth trying to save a few thousand pesos and risk getting scammed. I am willing to pay a bit extra for peace of mind.
