We got stranded in the Romanian Amazon! 🇷🇴 @ Danube Delta

We finally made it to Danube Delta, Romania!!!
It is Europe's largest delta in which the water meets the black sea.
We stayed at the Green Village Resort where we had an amazing 3-day stay, enjoying all the facilities, food, and services including the epic boat trip to the mouth of the river.

In the last two years ..flamingos have been spotted coming to the Danube Delta . There have been sights before but just a few of them (2-3) , this years over 100 were spotted so that's nice

"Stuf" means reed, it's the tall plant with long skinny leafs and a mop-like flower on top growing on the edges of all waterways around there. It's closely related to the American reed (sub-species of the same plant) and has many other uses besides roofing, from thermal insulation to drinking straws. If you visit an actual village (not a touristic resort) in the Danube Delta you'll also see fences, weaved baskets, rugs and various fishing tools made of reed.

I am happy for you guys to visit our beautiful Danube Delta but one thing to keep in mind for your next trips like this. This is a Biosphere Reservation.. which means that a lot of rare fauna and flora is ''protected'' there. (Or it shoud be..) Boats with an engine on it should not be there.. especialy at the lower water,.. the driver knows that but for money they will do everything, sadly! Try to explore the delta on a kayak..it is 10 times more beautiful and eco friendly. Hope you guys dont take this as an ofence, I really love our national treasure and want to spread the friendly news to you ! Hope u had a good time in my town of Iasi :P

@@JetLagWarriors definitely the Palace of Culture in Iasi, the big church called Mitropolia, the park where Casa Vanatorului restaurant exists and the botanical garden (actually if you go on Copou boulevard, you have like 3 parks all on one street, the other park should have the famous linden tree from Eminescu's poems). Apparently, Iasi has a very popular cake shop (cofetarie) too. Moldova is renowned for its monasteries, so Voronet, Agapia (which is only nuns), Putna are worth it. I am sure you find a lot of info about everything on google. Canada doesn't have cake shops, you buy your sweets from the grocery stores, but Romania has plenty of cofetarii, kind of cake shops that sell only cakes, and I believe recently coffee too. As you got acquainted with the orthodox rites and rituals, you know romanian people worship ''saints'', so Mitropolia din Iasi (Metropolitan Cathedral) houses the remains of saint Paraschiva, who is celebrated mid-October, so ppl flock to that site on that day (14/10). But if you head to Moldova, don't forget Bicaz gorge.
