@MackFoodyCoasters4 ай бұрын
@@Samuel-d1z4wNo, because the theme of the ride is that you are on a rollercoaster that goes through the raptor paddock in order to make the experience at Jurassic World more "thrilling". And; because the ride takes place BEFORE the events of the 2015 movie: "Jurassic World"; Nothing on the ride goes wrong (Unlike "Jurassic World the Ride" in Hollywood. Which takes place DURING the events of the 2015 film). So no, YOU ARE NOT A VELOCIRAPTOR, and no, THE RAPTORS NEVER ESCAPE. I do however think that the second half has all the theming it needs, as the entry Plaza is clean and nice, and there is a lot of greenery and water that keeps the ride scenic and intense (Unlike the "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit", which is intense, but not scenic)

I’m addicted to that feeling the second launch gives me. Like, if my husband would let me, I would stand in line for this ride ALL DAY just to ride it back to back to back. Also, the mosasaurus roll is so interesting because when watching it, you can tell it’s a smooth roll. But when you’re on it, it almost feels like you’re jerked upside down; and then you stay flat for a few seconds, and then you’re jerked back up the other way, and it is AWESOME.

For a person who is not a coaster enthusiast, I could not get enough of this ride! A month later, I still find joy just thinking about the experience. Our trick was taking advantage of the early park entrance since we stayed at one of the Universal Hotels. We went straight to the VelociCoaster while everyone else was going to Hagrid’s. I lost count on how many times we went on back to back to back within that hour time frame. Longest wait was 5 mins only cause we wanted to ride the front row. This was also during the week and not on a weekend. Not sure if that makes a difference. I can’t wait to go back and ride it again!

I went on it when it was during its grand opening. As soon as it started it started pouring down rain and with the speed it went, you could barely keep your eyes open because of the rain and the rain made it feel like you were being stabbed by needles. 10/10

I’ve said since the first time I rode it, if there’s such a thing as a perfect rollercoaster, it’s velocicoaster. I love riding it with people when it’s their first time, and my first time riding was alone, next to a stranger who had ridden it many times. He set me up perfectly, and we were both laugh/crying by the end. Felt like we had known each other our whole lives. Such an incredible experience that I’d recommend to everybody who likes rollercoasters. It’s truly on a different level than anything I’ve ridden.

Within the first 6 months of it opening in 2021, I have ridden this over 50 times. The first time experiencing it, I was so overwhelmed by just outright joy that I cried. My heart rate goes up after the Claire & Owen video (getting to know it by heart), and when we settle in the first launch bay, I check my heart rate again and it's a couple beats higher. By the time we hit the brakes, my heart rate is 20bpm higher just from pure adrenaline and happiness. I could be a little biased since Jurassic Park is my most favorite film of all time, but I don't think there will ever be another coaster that'll top Velocicoaster.

I rode this fairly blind, I saw the first launch in the station and didn't know about the 2nd launch at all, so I was pleasantly thrilled when I came up on it. The lapbar restraints were a surprise to me as well, but a welcome one, I was a bit skeptical but I figured they haven't lost anyone yet so they must work pretty well. I had the lapbar restraint before on coasters that go inverted, but this one seemed a lot smaller but it allows you to experience the elements out of your seat for the whole ride which makes it a lot more intense. A guy in line told me the ending corkscrew as his favorite, and I totally understood why after I experienced it. Super intense words can't describe. Even if you know it's coming it'll totally blow your mind.

There’s no doubt that VelociCoaster is another icon in today’s society, an icon of a thrilling ride anyone would come across, an icon to have fun, conquer fears, and show what a roller coaster like that can bring unlike most rides around the world. For me, I’m someone that enjoys coasters that doesn’t have to be all about airtime, intensity and what not. It does not have the most airtime points like Steel Vengeance, it may not be as intense as Intimidator 305. What VelociCoaster does is that it tells riders a story, except it wouldn’t necessarily have to be like a heavily story driven ridec it tells a story of what VelociCoaster brings, it’s got an introduction, a climax, and a finale that ends with a bang. In addition to that, I think VelociCoaster gives me a sense of riding something that feels complete and significant. It’s a thrill ride that I myself enjoy, with awesome elements especially on the second half with the banked hills, and the Mosasaurus roll. This is definitely a lot to read here lol, but I cannot get enough of that ride, which is why I consider it to be my #1 coaster I’ve ridden.

I'm not a roller coaster guy. I will always go on them when I'm at a park and they are generally my favorite rides, but I'm not someone that hunts them down or knows the names of the features (though that's awesome to hear you explain them all). After riding the velocicoaster, I thought I just experienced the greatest ride I could expect to be out there. The moment that lap bar goes down and you realize that that's all that'll be holding on to the time you go through the second acceleration, I couldn't believe how awesome it was.

As someone who thought this ride was gonna be kiddy and overrated I was FLAT wrong. Same thing for Hagrids.....looks teenie bopper but really isn't..... the ride paces, and the launches are just everything. I think this ride tops X2, Tatsu, and Wonder Woman at Magic Mountain. I always thought those rides were the most intense and fun but VC actually took the throne. Im shocked and happy. 44 year old here.
@ColonialDagger5 ай бұрын
For the second launch feeling stronger but not mathematically being stronger, I think part of it has to do with the top hat. They likely want to meet the very specific speed needed to give the desired airtime on the top hat. It wouldn't surprise me that the first half of the second launch is a very strong acceleration to get you close to the velocity that you need, whereas the second half does more minor corrections to that velocity to make sure the train has the exact velocity it needs. The acceleration force needed is calculated for every single train at the first launch. The reason you move slightly backwards right before the first launch is because it's calculating the weight of the train, so it's likely the very specific speeds that they want to achieve.

To me, the only thing holding this ride back is the lack of an onboard soundtrack. As a musician and Coaster Enthusiast, working onboard audio is always a plus in my book and for a ride as immersive as this, it feels odd not to have it. Not to mention those LED light blocks on the headrests already look like they should house speakers. Also the person who did the Jurassic World music has made the best roller coaster score of all time in my opinion with Disneyland's Space Mountain. So why you wouldn't give him the chance to score another ride is beyond me
@vanghostvvs Жыл бұрын
totally agree, whether they had music playing in the headrests or in speakers in spots throughout the structures you ride through, it would absolutely elevate the ride so much. upon rewatching the Jurassic World movies, I realized theres a massive lack of background music/soundtrack compared to Jurassic World. They barely play the standard Jurassic music but other than that theres hardly anything else

Out of my 268 coaster credits, VC is #1 because of how it is the near perfect balance of everything you expect from a roller coaster. Down to the theming and ride ops, the restraint design and queue management, the light package and sound effects, the park setting and how it blends in with the surroundings, the ride diversity and layout, intensity of g-forces and the airtime, etc....It's not the fastest, longest, tallest at anything. It's not the most intense, no earth shattering airtime or ejector record-breaking moments. It just gives you just enough near greatness of everything across the board. It's not too intense for the GP it's not too tame for the die hard thrillseekers. It virtually has no -discernible- and unintended "flaws".
@explorer47422Ай бұрын
Summarises my experience, what sets it apart from other coasters is others have their BIG drop right at the start, which is also their fastest element, but then the rest of the ride is downhill from there, but Velocicoaster actually gets BETTER and notably faster in the 2nd half, ultimately saving their best elements for last. Perfectly executed. It's not the biggest, the fastest, tallest, yet still the best. Goes to show you don't need to be a record breaker to be good or the best.

This coaster definitely gives more airtime than any other coaster I've ridden and feels like it is trying to throw you in the water. My only nitpick that keeps it from being a perfect coaster is the while there are a couple inversions the second half is basically just two big right turn helixes. If it went one loop right and one going left it would've made it perfect.
@MissMyMusicAddiction Жыл бұрын
it's not perfect, but it is a really good coaster. front, back, day, night - the ride is great it also has one of the best queues, which makes the wait much more tolerable.
@tankxander127 Жыл бұрын
So i'm not completely sure here, but I think the reason that the second launch feels more forceful is due to how kinetic energy increases in objects. The formula is E = 1/2mv^2 since the velocity is squared, the the difference in the squared amounts (50*50=2500 while 70*70=4900-40*40=3300), this leads to a higher amount of work being done on the riders, increasing the feel of the element. Also, I know that the math is normally done in m/s, but that isn't really important for this comparison.

1: This is probably the best Intamin Blitz coaster. 2: I have no shame in admitting that haven't ridden it and probably won't until 2025 or 2026. Velocicoaster and The Voyage are the two best coasters in the world I'v not yet ridden. Thanks for posting!

I also think the Raptors in the Paddock were so static they kind of ruined the illusion tbh. They needed to give them a little bit of motion - I appreciate they don't want to do out-door animatronics anymore due to the maintenance costs, but maybe they should have had them lunge forward on rails like the Raptors in River Adventure. They just felt too static to me.

It’s my #1 and I’ve been on hundreds across USA and Europe. Back row left, thank me later 😝

Velocicoaster before express opening up and the operation change was so incredibly fast.
