Kate, which tums were those that you were using to prevent milk fever? I have a doe due to kid on Tuesday who had milk fever bad the last time she kidded. Haven't had a chance to get to the vet to get the calcium borogluconate yet (he's 1 ½ hrs away). Thanks!

I try to leave some kind of comment, whether I have anything to comment or not because of the "internal workings" of this platform. But this comment is going to be the most random one I have ever made and maybe y'all have ever received, after this point. 👉 I need to thank you so much for weighing the newest edition on this vlog! Reason being, my mom has or had a fish scale identical to yours and a picture just doesn't jog her memory, so now you have given me a "demonstration video" to show her that I hope will help her remember it and where it might be so she doesn't have to hunt another one to purchase. She needs it on hand to weigh her smaller animals and dogs for correct dosing of natural health additives to their diet to keep their health at a steady healthy level. So thank y'all, wish me luck! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I will be 50, April 19th and I live in the US, North Carolina is my home state. Even though our climate and land are seemingly "worlds" apart, I learn something new from you weekly and multiple things some weeks. Just know you are appreciated and loved. You and all your family members are a total joy to watch. And again, Meg from the "Hollar Homestead" is where I learned of you. I'm still happy to thank her for the introduction! ❤😇 Have a great day and God bless.

If you take the baby away from mom to bottle feed and it's still getting down to freezing at night you will probably need to bring him inside at night in a kennel or tote. Baby goats don't handle the cold as will as calves and without other goats to cuddle with he might not make it. I have lost a baby goat from cold at 40 degrees Fahrenheit and the 2 I saved took hours to warm back up to a normal temp and became house bottle babies. I don't know what your weather is now, just wanted to warn you. Congratulations on your first baby goat.😁

How cute! But why did you take that buckling kid away from its mother to bottle feed it? Surely you could've bonded with it, without taking it away from its Mummy. It would be much better, healthier for that buckling to be dam raised by its mother unless there is something wrong with its mother. Poor thing being taken from its Mummy.

When a kid is born during extreme cold, they can't be just left in the cold.
@VenisonforDinner2 жыл бұрын
For a few reasons the kid lives beside the house and spends a lot of time inside. It's too cold out we didn't have a safe way to put a heat lamp in where the momma goat is. Momma goat provides enough milk for her kid and for Amos. Which is the reason we have goats in the first place.
