Caroline, I love the way you inform and teach through narration over the videos. And the videography, editing, and score always amazes me. Such a treat to watch these and vicariously enjoy life in a wilderness setting while I reside, for now, in suburbia. The educational value of these videos for when that day comes for me is as appreciated as much as the way they inspire and sooth the mind, nervous system, and spirit. 🙏🏼💕☺️

Hi …I live in Northern Ontario and spent over 40 yrs at our off grid cottage..I was watching you cord wood and it reminded me of the good old days and my dad always said for our winters we needed at least 8-10 cords of wood.. now that was a lot of cutting trees and splitting ( thank goodness we had a log splitter) and the big job « cording it « but we loved the winters and the ice fishing and stayed warm in our cottage. Love your videos.

True about the Mercy outboard. My Dad, born in 1916 was an Air Force mechanic. He actually started with the Army Air Corps and transitioned into the US Air Force and survived WW2 in Papua New Guinea. His bird was the Pacific Prowler, look her up. Anyway, after he retired he started working on boat engines, was a Master Mechanic on Evinrude, Johnson and Mercury. He could fix any gas engine.

Really great seeing the family get togethers. Haven't seen those in a long long time myself. That dinner is one that me and an ExGf used to cook together. Her bacon wrapped asparagus was amazing with brown sugar and soy sauce marinade it was cooked in. Great video. Not sure I could leave the island for as long as you do. I'd have to do it on shorter bursts and come back at least every 2 months for a month. It's a lot of work but with more time there it would be the perfect reset for another adventure. That area your island is in is a perfect place to spend a lifetime photographing nature and landscapes. Really an amazing place. Some of the things I know about Georgian bay came from a friend's family. The great grandfather originally bought 5 Islands up there. Then sold off 3 while building their cabin on one. He brought his family there for the summer to live from the U.S. He sold the 4th island and just kept the one. His son started taking his family up there every summer to live. He was a professor with a wife and 5 kids. They spent the whole summer on the island pretty self-sufficient every year for about 30 years. Kids obviously left for college and their life but still vacation there. They brought in frozen foods and dry goods and propane tanks and would have a restock once over the summer. They eventually built 3 cabins on the island with the central cabin, the one for cooking and large gatherings, as its largest. They still own it. Not all the family goes there but a few do. One of the sons married a girl from one of the other islands so he goes to their island now. It's obviously all been upgraded as the old Ham Radio was their only contact to call for help or supplies in the old days. Now they have phone service. They're friends with others on other islands and when there they always plan dinners at other owners' islands. It's a really nice community. By the way, I haven't seen a 19-year-old girl that could cook dinner in about 15 years. Bravo and Kudo's to her for being real.

We've run 25 hp 2-stroke Mercury boat motors for almost 30 years on our 15' War Eagle duck boat. We're in a similar situation though - our latest one is starting to have issues and the main problem is that parts are not widely available for them if it is anything more than a carb issue, etc. It's a shame because they've been fantastic motors (we've worn out 3 on our 93 model boat!) and we'll miss them when we inevitably make the jump to something different - most likely a Yamaha or Tohatsu 30 hp 4-stroke. I grew up with that boat and the sound and smell of a Merc 2-stroke is a memory I will always cherish. Good luck with yours - hopefully it's something that can easily be repaired!

These videos at your island inspire me with ideas for our land in the UP. Our next big step is getting a small tractor up there to speed up trail maintenance.

Williams wobbler (silver and or gold) and Trophy II (chartreuse) for pike!! My favourite lures. Either are super effective while trolling!! Good luck!!
