I have been fortunate to have seen “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” Live 4 times. I recorded the last show (Full HD) before Dusty passed away. Always an awesome show. You must see many other tunes from them including “Rough Boy” (official video)…. “Same three guys, same three cords, for five decades” - Billy Gibbons at last show.
@vicprovost25612 жыл бұрын
You bet man, I saw them a few times too but the first time in 1973 when we hardly knew them was shattering as they came out right away with the heaviest blues we ever heard. Amazing band live. A party wherever they went!
@AliasMark692 жыл бұрын
@@vicprovost2561 I've seen over 500 concerts. ZZ Top is always a great show. They are funny too, always saying something too cool.
@s.mcpherson63542 жыл бұрын
ZZ Top's production always did such a great job in the mix. The guitar is thick and crunchy up front, but it doesn't obscure the crisp sound of the bass, and the drums are mic'd and mixed as articulately as Rush's.
@petermorgan53032 жыл бұрын
Thick & crunchy is such a great description
@pawejuziuczuk22012 жыл бұрын
One hundred percent, man. Always amazed at the quality of sound they were able to pull off at that time, and the Rush comparison is spot on!

They really are under rated as recording artists. Everyone talks about the live show, but you are right; they were really great in the studio too.

Glad to see young black folks listening to this music because this is actually music from our past. When you hear Z Z Top you are listening to heavy influence from John Lee Hooker and all the delta blues black musicians. I am so sad and crest fallen that we as black people have destroyed and forgotten our influence on music because of the filthy rap and hip hop thats infected our community
@oldschool43822 жыл бұрын
Yep I am OFWG (old fat white guy) , been playing guitar almost 40 years . Realized in the beginning as did the Stones Beatles etc . If it weren't for the Black Mans Blues we would never of had the Rock- N -Roll greats of the 20th Century

Them boys can boogie like no others. Big fan of their early 70's albums. They was raw and original. Good one guys. Stay Cool and Peace ✌️

I’m two for two. I seen Stevie Ray Vaughan live, your last video and ZZ Top was the first concert I ever seen. You guys are doing some kick ass music!
My old man mentioned that Billy used to show up occasionally to the Twilight Cruise at the NHRA Museum in Pomona CA. Unfortunately he mentioned it well after the fact, and it was a weeknight cruise night, so I never went to it anyway since I was down in San Diego...

Kudos to you both for digging into a deep album cut by ZZ top. There are so many hidden gems in all their records that get passed over because the hits are so popular. Glad to picked this one as one of my favorites.

Dusty's bass carries this tune so we'll. Please keep digging in the ZZ Top catalog. I have been a diehard fan since 1973. I've seen them countless times throughout the years. They are the best.

Many of us, usually from Texas were kids and young adults in the time of ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughan's rise to prominence. We were so lucky to see them in person on multiple occasions. This music lives in us... And then again we may have seen a few naked cowgirls floating across the ceiling ourselves... Love the reaction guys... thanks for finding that groove right along with us....

Yes, ZZ Top. The Club Bands I played in "Stillwater & Frontstreet used to Jam "Sharp Dressed Man, My Heads in Mississippi, Gimme all your Loving, I need you tonight, Balinese, Le Grange, Legs, Tush, Jesus just left Chicago & Rough Boy." Buddy Mike liked to jam "Tube Snake Boogie & Got me under Pressure." Mikey did a Great job on "Jesus just left Chicago,' I was glad to play Rhythm for him on those 3 tunes. Billy Gibbons said in Guitar Player Magazine, "Country Western Musician Friends asked why he Opted to play the Blues and he replied, "It just feels right for me." Rest In Peace Dusty Hill.

React to "Francine" off the album, "Rio Grande Mud", from 1972. It's their first hit song. It didn't spark any controversy then, but it probably would today. "Just Got Paid" was on the same album. A year later we get "Waitin' for the Bus", "Jesus Just Left Chicago", "Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers", and "La Grange", all on the album, "Tres Hombres". They were certified hit makers by then.
