I recommend everyone try this game for yourself, especially since it's on XBox Game Pass. I put off downloading this from Game Pass for months, but now I am about 20 hours+ into it. It didn't take long for me to get hooked. This is definitely my kind of game. I am only a couple of hours into Act II and the difference in gameplay between Arthur and Sally. If you are a verteran stealth gamer, you may want to try it on Hard. Just note that you cannot change your difficulty in the middle of the game. If you have an Xbox Game Pass or a Windows Game Pass, there is no reason not to try check this game out.

I agree, I also have Xbox gamepass and got this game, and it's a really fun experience. Though, I think the retail price should have started at 40$ instead of 60$, especially because it was insanely buggy when it first came out

This is a good example of why I think games shouldn’t have early access. The issues are valid and are things that could be fixed but when you send out an unfinished game it leaves a bad taste for actual release

No i think you can do early access but it should be at a state where the game is fundamentally built mostly working and the difference between full release and ea is balancing, additive content (things that enhance the game not things that were necessary in the first place) and minor bug fixes a great example of a game that made this transition well is deadcells
@shelceygusek427
@shelceygusek427 5 жыл бұрын
Cole Shiffer you do realize 'early access' implies the game isn't actually released and you are just getting early access to see what a product could potentially be, right? If you take that book and judge it by its potential cover art before the cover art is even decided that is on you. Don't try to blame others for it.

Playing on Gamepass in 2021 and I'm loving the experience! I've just completed Arthur's story, and I've been hooked by the plot(s) since the start. This game is an innovative masterpiece, and I'm now convinced that people don't know what they want in a videogame... Sure the fighting can be a bit wonky, but the humor, storytelling, and world-design are top-notch. Multiple plot-twists have left my jaw on the floor several times, and I've only just begun Sally's storyline. It's a damn shame that this game's real issues are a product of technological shortcomings of the era. I hope this story can be retold one day in the not-too-distant future, when videogame studios can truly show-off and immerse their players within works of art such as We Happy Few.

I've been playing the game since early 2016 and I genuinely love it despite it's flaws. There are a few things I would like to see worked on for instance, I love the art style, but I really wish unconscious NPCs would breathe. I'll go through an area thinking everyone is dead when they're just drunk and asleep. They've really worked a lot on this game since I started it though and I've seen so many improvements. I'm having a great time playing through it all again and the story and world are just so interesting. It's gotta be one of my favorite games of all time.

I know Bioshock was good...but hasn't it gone a bit far when everything is Dark Souls, Everything is Bioshock? Just because of the dystopian artstyle, or difficulty. Having them as inspirations is one thing, but claiming they are 'knock offs' is quite another (referring to some of the comment section). The game is a quest based survival/stealth game, that has had the story/quest line fleshed out 3x more than initially planned and that is to the benefit of the player imo. If you don't like the survival/stealth elements, or don't have quite the best rig, then it might be worth holding off, or seeing if you can 'borrow' the game and test it on your rig. Otherwise, I am 11 hrs into my first run through and loving completing everything.

Hey guys, very interesting video. I wasn't even aware of the existence of this game before seing this content :) Say, I have an idea of subject for a future video you could do (if you're interested, that is): "Why do we still pay full price for games we do not own anymore?" To make it short, before Steam, Origin and all these third party websites even were a thing, we use to buy games, and we used to pay for the actual ownership of our own copy of the game. No matter what happened, we would be able to play the games we bought. It as tangible, we had the CD or cartridge in a box and there was no doubt we could play our games for as long as we'd live, giving we had a machine that could run them. But now, things have changed. We don't pay for ownership of game copies anymore, we pay for "the right to use" them, which is totally different, as this right to use a game is subject to a contract and can therefore be taken away from us, should the contract be broken (either by us breaking the rules or by them). And if you read the conditions carefully, you'll see that these third party sites include the right of terminating the contract - and thus your right to play your games - whenever they see fit, without any liability to justifiy their choice. Well, another problem added to this is that they are very soft on security and how many times have people got their Steam accounts hacked by a person who broke rules and got therefore their right to play the games they paid for removed? Add to this the concern of what would happen if these third party websites decided one day to charge people for connecting to their website? We would have to pay fees in order to pay games we've already paid! And yet another concern: what would happen if one day Steam for example went bankrupt or decided to close their website for whatever reason? All those games we bought, blown to dust. Geesh, think what would have happened if Sega players had had the same situation as we have today back then? They wouldn't be able to play their games anymore. Oh and by the way there is also the question of what happens if an unaware person buys a game and then realizes they have to register online in order to play it and they have no internet, .... Because let's face it, we were all caught by surprise the first time we realized we'd have to make a Steam account in order to play a game that doesn't even have online features. And we were caught by surprise because yeah it was written on the jacket... in one heck of a small police.... down at the bottom... with the other infos most people actually wouldn't read at the time... And so the question is: How come we have to pay full price for games we have no guarantee to be able to play as long as we will live? What justifies that? Oh yeah by the way, let's add a little bonus: a contract is supposed to be stable and remain unchanged from the day you sign it to the day it expires and the expiration date must be known to all signing parties before signing. Did you notice Steam has changed terms of contract more than once? Yeah of course we have the choice to refuse. But do we really? Knowing that refusing equals waving good bye to all the games we've bought since we won't be able to play them anymore? Well, this comment's getting goddam long. I just wanted to make sure I covered all my concerns and also I made myself clear, as English is not my native language^^ Do you think you could handle this question in a future video? Thanks in advance!

While the story starts okay, it begins to fall flat and loses its potential about halfway through. Mostly because so much of the extra details is shoved into the notes. Missing the notes leaves out a lot of detail, and that always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Not to mention that the story is written like its building to something, but then doesn't build to anything. A lot of the suspense is let go.

I agree. I was so excited about this game for years because of the story. I thought there was going to be a big buildup towards something too, and I thought the characters' paths would intertwine more often and have more importance to each other and the plot than they did in the game. I was very disappointed.

I literally just bought this on PS4. I usually wait until games get to be a few years old, and are bundled with either DLC or with another game, so that I get the most for my money, and for the price that it was on sale for, it isn't a bad game. It's definitely not one that you would want to pay $60 for, but in the $5-$15 price range, with all DLC, it's not horrible. You'll definitely find something to like for that price. You can save even more with a PS Plus subscription. I paid $7.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition, but it was $11.99 without PS Plus. A PS Plus sub is something else that I heartily recommend if you buy a lot of games. It pays for itself in just a few months with discounts, free games, and exclusive add ons. If you're going to spend that money anyway, then you may as well rack up a years worth of free stuff to make your gameplay more enjoyable.

hi there, lemme ask a few questions; * What actual differences can be counted between the early access or full release and first release made years ago? * is this game all about story mode/does it comprise only that which ends up after the completion of the doings of each "3" characters? What more features does it offer and make the game re-playable?

It a sale game, if they had kept it at $30 I could see people looking at this game more favorably. Good game with some issue, but combat sux. This being Compulsions first game I can see that it wont be their last, they layed some good ground work now they need to take what they learned and make it better; if Hello games can do it anyone can

It seems like a game that never aimed for the 60$ price tag. When you pay the full price, amazing story just won't cut it (despite good story being my favorite thing in games). Honestly, the price is the only thing stopping me from buying it today... I'll wait for it to be on sale at around 40$, which is IMO what the game deserves.

Now, years later, this review couldn’t be more outdated, Compulsion Games have significantly made the game better overtime. With all of the D.L.C. stories for We Happy Few the hindrances and problems from the glitches to the combat system to even some of the dragging bits in the game have all been fix’s and and the good parts have all been improved, they took the concept of different characters abilities / fighting styles and went crazy with it

@@Tyezone I have no idea what crack this guy is smoking. I’m halfway through the game now actually about to delete it because it crashed again in the middle of a side quest like it’s been for the last week. You have to manually save all the time and if you don’t you’re just asking to be reset to just after your last completed quest, which was probably a half hour ago because there’s so much damn walking even with fast travel. Not to mention enemies who just fucking go through your block in combat or legitimately teleport to where you are and see you in stealth. I’m going to finish it because I spent money on it but I wouldn’t play it again. People just seem to like it because they associate dystopias with fancy literature and therefore think it’s an intelligent game. There’s some cool backstory, the visuals are nice, and above all my favorite part is the soundtrack for sure, but this “interesting story” is such a farce. The most interesting part is the background that’s never explained (I prefer it that way actually, I’m just saying). The actual characters have super predictable plots once you understand who they are and what their goal is, which is immediately explained to you 5 minutes after you take control of them. I like this game enough to wish it was better, but just because your story takes place in an alternate dystopian and evil England doesn’t make it 1984 or a clockwork orange. Actually, funnily enough, you could almost say people all raving about the story are on some kind of reality altering drug themselves

Stumbled onto this as a free game to try on xbox console. Quirky fun and addictive. Not perfect by any means but their is enough there to keep you drawn in thru the whole story line and if you dont take the well traveled roads lots of things to find and or see. This really is despite some game play issues others have reported, it just feels like a cult classic. I would encourage people to pick it up and just let your brain go where ever this little adventure leads you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I got this game when it was cheap in early access and it's a great game imo. A blend of story and survival whit the art style changing depending on your joy status it's really cool. There are some bug and quirks in there but with the 3 characters and an upcoming sandbox mode. I'd give 4/5 (Also I never played any of the bioshock games sadly I never knew the style comparison.)

I picked it up day of release. The game is definitely fun and fresh, unlike other games on the market. My main thought though is that the game is full of a lot of bugs and glitches, and it’s crashed about a dozen times in the three days I’ve been playing it. Right now it’s not a game I’d recommend for everyone, but that opinion will go up if and when they release patches to the game to fix some of the issues.

I feel like this game is a sculpture, right now it’s that marble block. It’s lure and inspiration brings people in and it’s basic. With some sculpting it can definitely be something else. Like the lay out of some of the cities. It’s a collection of streets and copy and pasted houses but the field surrounding them just feel out of place. I think there should be zero field but have walls, expand the city out and refine the path systems. Make shortcuts but with checkpoints. Or with combat. Making it more refined and better yet, less CLUNKY. This game has such an interesting story and setting, but with refinements and polishing, it can be something great

I'm one of those kickstarter backers and I have to say this game changes a lot over the years. What I originally bought into was not the game it became. A lot of the elements people coplain about is what the game was originally about. A survival rpg with a great story that was prcedualy generated and changed with each play through. It was not supose to be a triple A title. However I like the changes I'm getting a beter game than I signed up for and once I get the sandbox mode I'll get every thing promised in my kickstarter pulse. So I'm so happy I could be on joy. ☺ 😂 😂 be seeing you.
