In their own way, they do understand her. They go by the inflections in her voice and the actual sounds of the words mean different things. Canine scientists have estimated that dogs can understand a vocabulary of around 150 words....IF they are trained to associate the sound of the word with the action, request, reward, task etc. Tucker and Todd have a very stimulating and interesting life with humans that train them, so I think they do "get it" although not how we might perceive it. I've had GSDs all my adult life and I know they are very adept at putting together the sound of a word, with vocal inflection, facial expression and body language.

Thank you for sharing this. 5 days ago I lost my sweet Riley Pie suddenly after 18 years of unconditional love and friendship. He was a Border Collie/ BlackLab mix. I love all the different tools you have to keep them nd your house clean. I never thought about vacuuming in the dark with a special light would help show animal hair easier.

i had a golden and i just used regular head and shoulders, it worked great, it also worked VERY WELL on those nasty fleas, be sure to trim the ear hair as much as you can, just use some scissors to trim as close as you can the closer the trim the more air can circulate and help keep the ear healthy. they should get their ears cleaned once a year by a vet, they can also clean their teeth at the same time too.
