The book was very good. I read it every few years. It is a fast read compared to some king books..things that do not mix well in the movie make sense in the book. The wendigo spirit is kinda behind the whole concept of the pet cemetery. The book talks about that. The indians who were native to that area knew the area had wendigo influence and eventually kids who buries their pets there knew as well...and timmy bateman was prooff it was evil land. The description king wrote of lewis and judd trekking to the indian cemetery is terrifying actually and imo some of kings most memorable writing. The movie is cheesy 80s scary but the book is actually good and classic horror.

My father says this is the only book he ever read that creeped him out POST-read. He was working midnights and would read it after he got home, and it had him all jumpy.
