G'day Everyone! Well...we ended up hating where we lived. But - with a limited time to search for a place and only a relatively short stay - our options were limited and more costly of those that were longer term. What do you think? Any advice for next time? Let us know in the comments! Chicka Chow!

The algorithm sent me. I'll be there in April! Cheers!

Ah nice mate - Thanks for stopping by again! April is a great time to be in KH - Especially if you are around for the new years celebrations! It's bloody hot though so make sure you have a good source of cold beer!

Also endless ants and bed bugs didn't help with this joint - at least the cafe and pizza place at the bottom of the building were amazing!

I recall you visiting Heritage Walk just as it was opening. I and Kim visited it today.....underwhelmed! The splasy fountain is no longer a problem as its permanently off. The empty places you showed are still empty...... Well, now you are back in Oz you should be able to find some Bacchus Brewery beers......

G’day Mark! Yeah it was bloody flash when it first opened up! But feels absolutely gutted now inside - i wonder with Lucky Mall shutting up shop, and the slow return of tourism if it will get any better for Heritage Walk. I wish they would run that fountain for us though haha! I’ll keep an eye out for that beer - but I’m trying to keep off em. Had my fair share in the KOW! Cheers mate!

Leaks n broken stuffs, renter can ask owner to fix up, anyway how long you signed contract for Marc?
@MarcsMildlyInteresting Жыл бұрын
We were there for just under 3 months. Don't worry - we told the building management about all of the problems - they had a go at fixing the water pressure (fail), they gave us new sheets for the bed bugs but the water leaking into the place was never addressed. Very frustrating!

G'day mate, you make it sound like we got a bargain here in Phnom Penh, yep everything you said i looked into b4 we signed up only difference so bloody expensive just to have a pool anyway you know better next time, that's why we didn't rush to sign . Catchya...
@MarcsMildlyInteresting Жыл бұрын
G'day Maddo! Haha I hope this makes a lot of people feel like they got a great deal with their rentals hehe! I think the biggest limiting factor was that there wasn’t much available for a short term lease. What ever we found was going to have a premium attached to it and we didn’t have much time to pick a place. All the better for the next time we go. Hope you are having an amazing time mate!!! It's p155 cold and raining today here!!

Equal to U$22 a day or A$33.. not cheap Marc,
@MarcsMildlyInteresting Жыл бұрын
Spot on! If we were there longer we could have got that daily rate down further. And if this was a 12 month lease we would have had the option of moving when some of those issues popped up. A leaky apartment when it rains is annoying (and makes for a funny story) for a little while but there is no way i'd cop 12 months of it if renting there long term.

Other than that, nice place man! 😎👍

G'day Ed! haha yep agree - no single one of these things were that bad its just the sum of all parts made it to be a bit cr@p! I did love the location though! All the more prepared for the next time we do it! Cheers mate!!

$650?? Wow. Expensive for Siem Reap.

G'day Wes! Yeah mate we got stitched up - however looking for short term rent under 6 or 12 months really limits your options and pushes up your price. If we were staying longer we would have been able to go lower...in fact if we stayed longer we would have ditched this joint after the water started leaking! The main thing that was good about this place was location - and that is about it. Are you in SR or looking to shift there? Cheers! Marc

@@MarcsMildlyInteresting Hello. I’ve been living in Siem Reap going on 2 years now. I found an apartment building built recently that’s 1 mile away from Pub Street. It’s a fully furnished, 1-bedroom on the second floor with a nice balcony overlooking a grove of coconut Palm and mango trees. It comes with a 47 inch Smart TV a washing machine, free water, free Internet and is $200 on a 6-month lease or $250 on a 3-month lease. It has free, covered parking for my rented Honda scooter ($80/month). I absolutely LOVE it here.

I don’t ever want to drive pass this place again. I would have gone pass the agent for a full complaint if I wasn’t so sick before we came back to Oz
@MarcsMildlyInteresting Жыл бұрын
...But the Source Cafe and Italian House Pizza were so good! We have to be able to drive past there again! We really should email the agent actually..

I would love to live there for that price,

G'day Bezonie - Compared to rent in the western world, it's pretty good however better can be found in Siem Reap for the same price. Check out our apartment hunt video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rl7aaYd-gpKNg9Usi=yJCVCDBGox8K10VM) to get an idea of what is out there! Cheers and thanks for watching!

@MarcsMildlyInteresting Жыл бұрын
G'day mate - look it is, however there were limitations looking for short term rentals compared to 6-12 month leases. We get that this was more expensive than a long term lease - but still way cheaper than a hotel. Cheers!
@CountDankula0 Жыл бұрын
Very over priced
@MarcsMildlyInteresting Жыл бұрын
For what it ended up being - agree Adam. Remember too that if we had this place for 12 months instead of 3 we would have been able to negotiate down further. No one likes short term leases unfortunately. Cheers mate!
