Not only an unsophisticated, but also an ignorant immature audience. And unfortunately, that ignorance is nowhere near being diminished. Instead most of the directors in India have chosen to degrade the line of Indian cinema further, and further to the point where the mere thought of an Indian cinema flashes pictures of dancing women and men out of nowhere. The line of art films is broken. All originality has been lost into oblivion. Those who care enough have secluded themselves into a small collection of cinemas that were made decades before they were born.

I am a South Indian who lives in Jamshedpur and I very much agree with his words......... Yes our North Indian Hindi audience is fairly backward....... Before SSR's death they were indulged in watching Houseful 4, Baaghi3 and all those shits.............. Then comes thier politics............ They will say This film is hinduphobic or islamobhobic. And that is not the problem but the problem comes when they will watch the film, make it a hit and then they will say that the film was not worthy to be watched....... And then thier politicians will come to defend them......... In Tamil Nadu and Kerala we are not like this......... Even in our industry hinduphobic films were released but we knew how to teach them a lesson....... And we did so We made those films flopped......... I am not telling telling that Bollywood is not wrong. But when it comes to North People, they will never watch Sonchidiya, Lunchbox, Tumbadd............ Thus we really have a fairly Backward audience

True that. We don't just have unsophisticated audience, we have a massive unsophisticated audience. What should've been just an another gore film like one of Anurag Kashyap's, has been a box office hit appeasing a larger section of audience because of glorification and masala. Now this is the trend directors are following, and Sandeep is known to have broken the conventional barrier of it by endorsing the Hollywood trends.

Actually the film Inception or Prestige(not watched yet but definitely will) are freaking geniuses tho. I might get carried away on commenting and reviewing about Inception because in my opinion, it's about dreams that are actually in parallel universes but ended up on cliffhanger. You're going to ask yourself if it deserved a sequel (critical thinking POV) or something to "spoon feed" you (your mind is saying "im watching movies for entertainment and escapism as defined by mainstream media) of what actually happened.

The maestro himself. Satyajit Ray along with his contemporaries Mrinal Sen and Ritwik Ghatak ( we often forget these 2 persons) elevated Indian movie in a lofty place. We should remember that these men( unfortunately not Ritwik Ghatak)along with many different stalwart filmmakers roamed Cannes so we need to keep in mind what is the actual essence of Cannes. Such clear thought about our Indian audience is only mentioned by the greatest Film-maker Satyajit Ray. Still in these times when only Box office collections of first 4-5 days decides the fate of the fillm and then there's OTT which even more massy ( low on good content ) which doesn't give a good 'cinema' or good content. Still there a very small part of Indian audience who cares & craves for World Cinema. Hope we get to see more films like Mr. Ray made & Film-makers as him in India
