I tend to keep up with Horse Plus Human Society in Tennessee who rescue horses at the auction to save them from the slaughters in Mexico and Canada, and it has me in tears so often on how abused have been the poor horses they rescue. So it is a pleasure to watch someone who so loves the animals and takes such great care of them.

Emma, I love that you wear a helmet on the ground. I have a head injury due to a kick from a beloved horse when I was a child. I wear a helmet around my horses always! Gorgeous “gingers”. I can’t wait to see what your beautiful draft mare does.

"Big or small, I absolutely love 'em all!" Happy Rhyming April Fool's Day and big congrats on Lady Betty, your new draft from the German breeders who have such a huge draft-horse farm. At 15.3 hh, and 2 years, she's still a baby but looks like a young adult. A cutie pie who chases your dogs, she is so frisky. When she gets settled in, she won't be so bored and will stop that. Your Ginger Team is a wonderful family for all your trips and outings 🤩🤩 Glad to hear Jeremy's keeping an eye on your romps.

This may sound silly but we have a friend who bought a German horse [I am German in the UK too 😁] and it wouldn't listen to her, turned out she didn't understand English. Never thought about that before but it's true. Took a while for the mare to understand the new language. It's all good now.

Custards new girlfriend is gorgeous, congratulations on getting a draft. I absolutely love draft horses, I've got a 4 year old Boulonnais/percheron mix (we think) he is amazing just like Betty, and also a bit goofy. His best friend is a carmargue horse, and they are such different temperaments, but seems to even eachother out. I've been working on jumping them at liberty, but the draft seems to have invented a new discipline... I call it bulldozing 😊
@alexk79732 жыл бұрын
I knew a not quit 1m shetland once who was a great bulldozer. She was part of a pony club riding school gang, and I remember one time, they would be working on a small jump, like a cavaletti cross. Each kid would take the jump one after the other. And to make it easier on them, there was a wall of those cavaletti- boxes to the side, so the ponies would just jump over the lowest point in the cross without the rider having to actually do anything. Nit this one though. Bulldozed her way through the wall of boxes with the kid on her back and then clambered through the resulting mess. She would also stop at any moment and do a drop-and-role, with tack and kid and all, buck her heart out whenever there was a saddle-free riding day for the more advances kids and won EVERY race, even against the bigger polo-sized ponies. She was certainly quite a character! Not for everyone, but her die-hard team of fans would swear by her 😅
@alexk79732 жыл бұрын
some other ponies did learn the drop-and-role from her. None of them did it before she arrived, but a few months in, there were some copy-cats on the farm. It was only with the shetlands though, they are too smart for their own good sometimes 😅
@pernille23892 жыл бұрын
@@alexk7973That story brought a by smile to my face, thank you😁 Shetlands are the funniest. I have two in my mismatched herd, but they are better jumpers than the draft but only if they want to.

안녕하세요? Draft horse is a nice horse. But horseshoesing was too hard. I think it's fortunate that there aren't a few in Korea. Horses look better in the meadow. It is a pity that there are not many wonderful grasslands in Korea.

@lucylocket52622 жыл бұрын
Drafts are not kept in very good conditions in Eastern Europe because they are not considered valuable enough ;( Breeders get subsidies from the EU to keep them in order to stop the old breeds from dying out. The problem is that there is hardly any need for drafts, apart from the meat market. They are still used in forest industry: they can easily go and pull timber where heavy machinery cannot go. Other then that, people prefer light weight horses for riding or pulling carriages. Majority of drafts from Easter Europe will end up as meat products in Southern Europe (France, Spain, Italy). My question is: why didn't you get a draft horse from any of the charities that rescue horses from slaughter? You would have saved a life, instead of buying a horse, which probably did have a future.
