My Encanto theory: Maybe mirabel didn't get her gift because she wiped her hand on her dress after touching the candle. None of the other Marrigals did that, and they all received a gift. Or, also, maybe it was a sign that they didn't need a miracle or gift to be special, or maybe Mirabel was meant to inherit the candle but her fate got messed up by Abuela.
