Hare Krishna and Humble Pranams Mataji, thank you for visiting Udupi and beautifully covering the temple through your vlog. However , I would like to issue one clarification , please consider it a humble suggestion : The idol of Sri Krishna at Udupi was established in the westward direction itself by Acharya Madhva in the 13th century ! Surottamatirtha who was before the timeline of Sri Kanakadasa had written a detailed description of Udupi garbha griha’s architecture where he notes down the idol direction to be westward ! To prove this the architecture of the garba griha was studied by architects and it was concluded that no such turning happened as the garba griham had 2 outer coverings as well (if the idol turned then both of these coverings also had to crack for Sri Kanaka to get the darshanam) , but no such crack was to be found what so ever. To further prove this point , the deities in each of the ashta mathas surrounding the Udupi krishna temple are facing westward indicating they were all established in the westward direction itself ! Sri Kanaka was never discriminated at the temple and the song “Bagilanu teredu” is believed to be composed at Melukote Cheluvanarayana temple ! One kannada movie concocted this krishna turning story and it has continued as a myth from then on. This is not true. Sri Kanaka was given utmost respect by the then Paryaya Swamiji Sri Vadiraja Tirtha. Sri Kanaka once offered some grains in a coconut shell for the lord and from that day on Sri Vadiraja tirtha made it mandatory that everyday a coconut shell with grains will be part of the neivedyam for the main idol! To this day the tradition continuous in the temple ! Sri Vadiraja tirtha even considered Sri Kanakas suggestion for cooks at the temple kitchen. Sri Vyasatirtha was the Acharya who gave Sri Kanaka his Dasa deeksha and placed him at a higher pedestal than his own devotees ! To this day followers of Tattvavada (Udupi Mutts) believe Sri Kanaka was a heavenly being and continue to honour him and worship him. Ashtamangalam from priests of Kerala was also performed to check how many times the idol had moved . The answer from it suggested no count in accordance to this idol turning Story. Infact the head tantri declared that “even if a street animal like a dog goes into the garba griham , the sanctity of the garba griham would not be affected at all” . When asked how ? The tantri gave the reply from the ashta mangalam as “Maha purusha pratishtitha” meaning “this idol has been established by a powerful individual”. So is it logical to even say that the temple would restrict entry of any individual?? This false story of Sri Kanakas entry restriction and the idol turning is baseless and has continued as a propagated myth. All of the above information is well documented and already published as a research work by one of the greatest Vedic scholar of our time Padmasri Bannanje Govinda Panditacharya in his works “Udupi of Sri Krishna”, “Acharya Madhva” (both available in English on Amazon) and another book “Kanakopanishat” in Kannada! Hare Krishna !

And also in many occupation/education institutions/work environment displaying Brahmin superiority, Kannada/ Malayalam hates etc., So we don't agree with your points.

@@teamstark1018 With due respect, historical and architectural records don't care about your feelings about the people of Udupi 😅🙏. Do not twist facts, I was in Udupi when that board issue happened. The kannada board had a mistake and it went for repaint. The tulu board was just finished faster and was put. The kannada board was repainted and came later. If you see the board you'd understand, the correction mark is still visible. Tulu is technically a classical language too : The tigalari script has a rich history and there are manuscripts from the 11th C as of today. It has literary works as well. No one removed kannada, there are both boards to this day. There's a place where 24/7 kannada bhajana recitation happens sponsored by the temple. The number of kannada publications coming from the Vidwans of the matha is again evident to people who know. The Ashtamathas have branches all over Karnataka thereby providing employment to thr locals, they contribute to state funds, do public service via schools /hospitals etc and take up issues of national significance as well. Your Brahmin superiority point maybe an isolated incident you mightve experienced and I'm no one to deny it. Please don't generalise it to build your narrative.

All good. However - Kanaka Das, Kanaka Kindi story what mentioned here is fully wrong. Kanaka used to live near to Krishna temple, he was devotee of Krishna. During his time, Temple structure was only inner part, everything else outer structure is built later. Some movie showed wrong story of Kanaka Das and Kanaka Kindi, unfortunately that false story become popular among all !!!!
