Honestly, I think as a country, we have reached the end and we are seeing the very start of our America's collapse right in front of our eyes. There is just far too much apathy (so many people saying "I don't care about politics" even though politics is literally the very foundation of our living conditions), hate, mental laziness (people are too lazy to even google simple terms anymore before making heavy decisions, like how the election went with most red voters and non-voters not knowing about tariffs), and blissful ignorance. Coupled with COVID still going around, upcoming bird flu pandemic, and global warming, being in the fascist state we are in now is just a speed run to our collapse. COVID should have been the ultimate wake-up call about how awful the fat cheeto is and even that didn't work. People still went with their feelings, mainly hate and bigotry.

Yes, Andrew Jackson was absolutely horrible. He hated Native Indigenous people. He hated blacks. He felt the land belonged to the white man, and put the native people on the Trail of Tears. I remember as a child, I loved watching movies with Charlton Heston. I watched a movie where he played Andrew Jackson and Susan Hayward played his wife, Rachel Donaldson Robards. I remember after watching that movie, I was sooo upset with Andrew Jackson and stopped watching Charlton Heston movies. My ancestors were native indigenous people. @@DSAK55Grant was a great president who was 75 years before his time. Most of the popular history about him that endured came from his pro slavery and corrupt wealthy detractors who owned newspapers, but as a president got the 15th amendment (securing the right to vote for black people), he modernized the executive branch, brought more women and black men into higher positions than any president had done previously, by far. He advocated for women’s suffrage, and improved women’s rights in the workforce. There’s more, but what went wrong was he couldn’t build enough of a foundation for an era to build upon what he started. With the rigged election outcome of 1876, the Republicans of the era sold themselves and Grant out, keeping power but at the expense of ending Reconstruction and turning their backs on enforcing the law to protect women and minorities in the South. Corruption increased (another problem he couldn’t solve), and it culminated in the start of the labor movement and the anarchists. Obama is the closest thing to Grant in our lifetime, a standalone near-great president who just couldn’t make positive changes last, and was followed by corruption and destruction

The 'Cheat-O' is still the worst thing that has happened to us in as long as memory goes back.

Can I suggest we refer to trump as the Cheeto Cheater In Chief.

Explain exactly what he’s done to warrant that remark? Because 2016-2020 was a really great time in America.

Thank you for talking about this. Two excellent books about this are “Jacksonland” by Steve Inskeep and “Unworthy Republic: The Dispossession of Native Americans and the Road to Indian Territory” by Claudio Saunt. Also available as audiobooks.

Thank you for sharing these titles. Will check them out, although I knew what kind of president Jackson was. It does seem, sadly and shamefully, that history is repeating itself.

Your earrings look great! They'd look even better life-sized, installed on the white house lawn.
