Welcome to Norwal Farm. This week we took delivery of new hay feeders and found them to be very easy to assemble and they are saving us on hay. There is much less wastage. The fall breeding season is going well. We changed the marking crayon to red, after the first 17 days being green. All the ewes have been serviced and one of the first ewes serviced on August 28th came back into season and was served a 2nd time. This is not unusual and is the reason we change the color of the crayon, to be able to track breeding dates. We are letting the replacement ewe lambs and the doelings into the laneway to graze the grass that has grown nicely. This affords them additional forage and reduces the need for supplemental hay. The house construction continues at a nice pace and we are on target to move in the end of October or first part of November. With the cooler evenings of late summer, we took advantage and enjoyed a small fire, the sounds of nature at the farm and a beautiful sunset. Thanks again for joining us at Norwal Farm.
